  1. FWIW it brought $805 and sold for that. I just thought I would post up. Bidding must have gotten pretty crazy at the end. ROB
  2. From my limited searching awhile ago it seemed that the style I have was not the good one. The posi style is older and I think it is a bolt in along with better gearing. I would ask someone who really knows.... I have been told that the newer style like mine has too tall of gears for performance use. ROB
  3. I need to decide what I am going to do with it first. It is pretty small so I just have it under the bench. It will be in the classifieds here if I do decide to sell it. Thank you for asking, and your help. ROB
  4. I am a former 510 owner x's three. I have been attempting to sell some of my other toys and get back into 510's. So I am looking around just to keep an eye out. It seems that most 2-doors are either completely gone and pretty cheap but lacking everything including paperwork etc. Or, they are often badly modified and 5k. I know alot of you are in the Oregon/WA area. What is the deal with this car? It seems to be in the middle. Not $100 with nothing. But not 2k either. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/71-DATSUN-510-2-DOOR-GREAT-CAR-RESTORE-LOW-RESERVE-/290453462143?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item43a0601c7f#ht_16752wt_1167 It looks like it has most of the stuff and it seems like it didn't get bid too high last time I checked. Anybody know anything about the car or the dealer? Thank you, ROB
  5. OK. I have had it laying around forever. It was real low mile so I thought I would see if I could use it. I may just sell it off. Thank you, ROB
  6. I have an R-160 differential out of a 95 -96 Subaru Outback. What do I need to do in order to bolt this into a 510? I believe the axle flanges are different etc. but I do not know for sure. Also, what is the likely gear ratio? Thank you for your help. ROB
  7. I should post up since I am the starter of the thread I suppose. I've been trying casually for the last year to sell one of my Jeeps off. I found a guy who had the magic number in cash and a partial trade with the patrol. It was basically a bonus at this time. If you have ever dealt with Craigslist you know what I am going to say next. He sent me a few half hearted pics, and then couldn't be reached for 4 days. Then another email then nothing............ So no Patrol for me. I have learned alot about them, and I will consider getting one. For now, I am taking a trip with my Jeep.......... Thank you for the ideas. ROB
  8. I just watched a complete one that had some other issues go for around $1400 on Ebay. There is more to the story, but the Patrol would basically be a bonus on a trade that I am contemplating making. I have been building approximately one vehicle every other year for about 14 years or so. If I were to keep it I would end up doing some crossbreeding etc. My main thing was determining value. It sounds like it is the Japanese version of the Scout. No offense to any fans here of the mighty Scout. I had a pretty nice one of those that needed some mild TLC and couldn't get more than $300 for it...... If I pursue this Patrol, it will likely be due to my own interests. It does not appear to be worth more than about $500 based on what I have seen and heard about. Thank you friends. I needed some direction and I think I have that now. ROB
  9. Hello, I am looking at getting a 1960's Nissan Patrol on trade. It is missing the top, and from looking at the pictures, I would say that it has been sitting for some time. He says it needs "minor work". The mileage is low, and most all the OEM stuff seems to be there. No mods. About what are these things going for? I have been looking at a few websites and other places etc. Picture a largely complete, stock Patrol, minus top. Ideas on value? Parts worth anything? If I build it, I will have extras. I may build it, I may sell it, I may stare at it! Just don't want to pay to much on trade. Any thoughts, appropriate comments etc.? I am not wanting to end up with another Yard ornament, but I do kinda dig it! Thank you, ROB
  10. Back from the dead post. I am most interested in selling the nicer CJ-the 81. It is quite able off-road and drives nice on road. I would take a serious partial trade on it. Something like $2500 in cash and a 2-door that could need some help. Photobucket links: http://s795.photobucket.com/albums/yy240/toyotajeep/81%20CJ-5-BIG/?start=40 and the little 82: http://s795.photobucket.com/albums/yy240/toyotajeep/82%20Jeep%20CJ-5/ Thanks, ROB

I am happy someone bought that. It was just cheap enough, and close enough that it was so tempting........ Keep at it and it will come together. Seems like it is the nature of mechanical things to fight us.....you will win! ROB
  12. OK. That is what I needed to know. From my 4x4 stuff I know that there his very little value and use for most of the Nissan stuff (no offense to you if you like it!) So I would end up with a non-running 268K Pathfinder missing a fender in my yard. I am thinking I will stay with plan A and get the KA and go that way. I've driven one of those and I liked it for what it was. Thank you for your help. ROB
  13. Hello, I am gradually (as in years long) gathering pieces for my 510 project. Mainly I am getting pieces when I can for reasonable. When done I want a reliable, EFI rig for 3-season driving. A coworker has offered me a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder that quit running, they really don't know why. It has higher miles and is definately a VG30 with an auto. What parts are good on that rig for the swap? Also, do they use a divorced transfercase? The rig has an auto and I may run that too if it has the slip yoke rear output. Mainly, I want to know if it is worth buying or if I should pass. It will take alot of work, but I tend to collect pieces on the cheap and sell what I don't need. Thank you, ROB
  14. Tomorrow finally came and it left. It made me a bit sick since it had a good engine etc. but I am not a Z guy so.........it left to the crusher. I have one or two pieces left that I will locate here in a bit, but the whole car is gone. ROB
