  1. Thanks datzenmike. You just saved me $100! I'll look for that then. My project is nearing an end
  2. Reviving this old thread to post a similar question to which i havent been able to find an answer: Will a silvia s13 short shift kit work with an L series 5 speed gearbox? Theres one up for sale here and i cant find any literature on it
  3. Didn't see that option on the site. Will check again
  4. Yup. Can find easily. Is this the same filter that came on the 1.8liter boxer? I'd prefer to fit a permanent washable filter in there so I can maintain it. It's pretty dusty here so need relatively good filtration too. Hence my choice of k&n. If you guys know a Better bran pls do recommend. I can get it fedexed here
  5. Found that link. 33-2010 is circular
  6. Thanks guys. That's a lead. It's the only SSS datto in Sri Lanka so no one stocks anything! Hence my choice of k&n. Can't be importing filters ever so often. Local k&n agents are a bit slow. They wouldn't know a datto even of it walked up and bit them on their behinds
  7. Does anyone know the part number for the drop in replacement k&n air filter for a '68 bluebird 1600 SSS OEM twin side draught intake? The closest I could find on the realm was E-2970. But it seems longer than the datto filter. Some help here would be appreciated. I searched the forums but no luck :(
  8. the package from japan arrived today. received the following: the cusco strut tower brace: the JDM SSS steering wheel. can't imagine how this looks so new! and those gorgeous JDM SSS taillights! man what a piece of work! awaiting the shipment from the usa with the cam, and from aussie with the carbs! also, handed the interior in for reupholstering. here it is in my friend's forester: getting it done in black perforated leather, with gold double herringbone stitch. these guys cost a packet, but their work is just top notch and here's where it stands today. a little more scraping and tinkering done.
  9. still collecting parts for the build. got hold of these numbers in the last fortnight or so: a hydraulic floor mounted handbrake. its got the dash mounted one and that's a biatch to clutch-balance with. plus this is just soo much cooler! the spec SSS late 510/610 steering wheel. oh this is such a heartstopper! a cusco strut tower brace. will update more this weekend. heading over to the tinkers'
  10. so work has begun. my team is scraping off the layers of bondo and paint. they dinged out a dent i had on the left quarterpanel as well. surprisingly low levels of rust encountered thus far. but i did have a horrendous leak from the drainboard into the cabin. got a free foot rinse when it rains (and in Colombo, it RAINS!) so should look into that as well. will be bringing home the interior in a week or so, so i can can store it safely. my teg interior got ruined during storage here. can't do the same with a classic. also handing the seats over to be re-done and the chrome bits to be re-plated.
  11. Wow man that's an awesome color! Stunning! What's the color you used? I'm thinking of blue on mine as well
  12. in the meantime, here's a few shots of my friend's 510. he's more perfoemance oriented than i. this is a proper scorcher. of the 6 cars here, only the two of us are going batshit crazy with our restomods. original SSS badges still in the packaging. for only $1.75 a piece! clearly the guy in the parts shop had no idae what he was selling twin weber DCOM's from greece. these cost a packet! the interior is still under construction... dat a$$!
  13. the best i could find on y! japan auctions was the SSS taillight lenses. looks like i have some fabricating to do. spoke to the body shop and my electrician. said its not a biggie. can fabricate the light housing as well as make a circuit/relay for the sequential repeater. found a site through a ratsun thread for a guy over there who makes them as well. so that's hopefully sorted! also got the SS spec L16 camshaft from a ratsun member. waiting for this to be shipped! and also just got hold of a SSS L16 twin 38mm hitachi side draught carbs, inlet manifold, and the OEM filter housing! this was a lucky break! all these parts will take around 6-8 weeks to arrive in sri lanka. well bodywork has begun in the meantime. there's a bit of tinkering to do. straightening body panels etc. got an experienced panel beater on the team.
  14. more on the carb: after some extensive research, i decided on sourcing a set of Hitachi SU 38mm carbs for the build. overall consensus by many users around the world is that the SU is the most realiable, cost effective carb of all. and since this will be a daily driver, i thought that would be best. other options were the webers, and mikunis. both of which give more high end grunt, and are alrger, at 42mm +, thus being more thirsty. following a few leads on SU's available locally and abroad. if any of you know where i can find a pair with the inlet manifold, please do let me know
