  1. Honestly, I'm not too sure, that was the work of the previous owner. If there's a way of identifying it, I can check it out and let you know!
  2. Hope it's ok to promote my own ad! Also, some people seemed to be truly offended by the listed price. Craigslist wouldn't let me add an "obo" after the price, which probably would have decreased the angry e-mails I received. So I'd just like to let you guys know ahead of time that the price listed is just a number to fill in the blank spot, but I'll consider any realistic offer given. Thanks! http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/3797299679.html
  3. Yup, after I looked around some, I see now that it's pretty much impossible to get one that is totally rust free. But you guys know what I mean, I want one that's clean with a body in good shape. I'm most concerned about rust on the main body, other parts like the fenders or trunk lid are replaceable at least.
  4. Hah, just found out how old the post was. Long Beach isn't far from me, I'll need to track down this new owner and make an offer :P
  5. Very very very very very interested! I'm also in southern California! What body work and TLC is needed, exactly?
  6. Yup, I'm still hoping to come take a look at it. I'm working out at Circuit of the Americas til Sunday, hopefully I can come see it sometime next week! And still keeping my eyes open for any and all options, please let me know, people!
  7. Followed up on a couple of these, but still keeping a lookout for others. Anyone find any more popping up?
  8. Hah, correction: as rust-free as possible then
  9. Hi everyone, saw a couple other WTB posts in California, but I'd feel guilty hijacking their threads to find stuff for myself, so I hope starting a new one here is ok. I'm in Orange County, and it'd be nice to find a 510 locally so that I can physically see the car before making any final purchasing decisions. I'm looking for a smog exempt era 510, preferably 71-73, and either 2 door or 4 door is fine. This car will be used somewhere between daily driver and weekend driver. Also wanting one with an sr20de or ka24de swap done, but one of the L motors will suffice if need be. If I get one with an L motor, I'd want to do the motor swap down the road, so it'd just be nice to have that whole thing out of the way already. And then most importantly, I'm looking for it to have a straight body and be rust-free. I'd like to keep the price tag around 5,000-6,000 range, but might might might be willing to bump that up for an especially good deal. I've been working on cars and have been racing cars for nearly all my life, and have always been jealous of every 510 owner I came across. I look forward to finally getting my first one, thanks guys!
  10. castaway has first dibs for this thread, but Adrian if they pass up on your 510, then I am interested!
  11. Beautiful... now to magically triple my budget..
  12. I did, actually! The car needed a good wash, but the body looked to be in good shape. The paint has definitely aged more than the pictures make it seem, and it looks like there is some very slight surface rust on the verge of developing, but at this point it's just aesthetic and hardly even that. The owner informed me that the carbs desperately needed tuning, and that the plugs are all pretty much black right now. He was able to start it with the assistance of starting fluid, but the motor wouldn't stay running. Interior is also original and clean, but also looks pretty aged, the driver's seat was a little torn up. Dash was in great shape, just a small crack right above the glovebox. Also, the gas pedal was disconnected because it broke off, apparently, but he had a new one ready to put in. Also needs new tires, the ones on there have tread but they've been sitting for a long time and really dried up/cracked. Lastly, someone decided the car should be green, and started with a foot or two of paint on the left front fender, and then changed their mind apparently. He also has a new left front fender to throw on there, too. Most the rubber is actually in really good shape, with the exception of the passenger side door, still seals he says but it is pretty dried and cracked. He also has the replacement rubber for that. I snapped some extra pictures if anyone wants. I've been looking around Southern California for a 510 in good shape, but I'm on the fence with this one. I definitely would want it repainted asap, and while the motor and carbs are supposedly pretty fresh, it makes me a little nervous that the car wasn't tuned to at least be running. Even though aside from the paint most the issues were minor, it would've helped catch my interest a bit more if those things were taken care of before seeing it.
  13. Has anyone by chance checked out that orange one already? I'm about an hour away from there, but may be checking it out today or tomorrow
