  1. ok, so I did a dumb thing the other day, also managed to trash a rear tyre at the same time, will try to post a video soon, lots of smoke HE HE HE. problem is I can put it into gear with out motor running, wont go into gear when its running. also noticed when i push clutch in I can hear a click crunch sort of noise at full stroke of the pedal, plenty of fluid in master cylinder for clutch and no leaks in the slave cylinder, should mention that Ive fitted a 5 speed manual gear box to a z20 , the box was fitted to a z22 and Ive used same clutch and throw out bearing that was used in the 4 speed colum change originaly fitted to my truck, always thought that the clutch pedal felt kind of funny since fitting gear box to truck but did the job. any ideas of an easy fix before I pull the gear box out and see if there is any clutch left.
  2. 12 liters of paint should have a good reflection, more to come
  3. progress so far. some mint bucket seats, a new diff , petrol tank and a serious engine tune and the 5 speed is all good. what a difference. got back home after a Russell peters concert and my brother had tunned the truck with standard carb and extractors , haha guna need new tyres soon as way too easy to light them up.
  4. thanks for the advice , as soon as the diff shows up( the guy is delivering it to my door diff included $100 ) sweet deal. I will pull the head and check ratio, and comapre mine, replace axle beings & seals and definatley replace the gasket. cant wait, see if I can get a better top end speed , then look into the vibration problem.
  5. Ive got a poxy z20 single spark plug with a 5 speed, a couple of dirt bikes would be the max load and the diff is out of a 85 720 ute like mine, Im guessing it might be a desile version
  6. my boy plays that game and his car looks just like yours, dont know if I need another project but I will show him this post, maybee. nice car , the real one.
  7. that was my inital thought , only issue would be a drifference in the axial splines, will pull head of both and compare , if the same then thats what I will be doing, looking for the easy way  have had the drive shaft extended and ballanced when I put the 5 speed in and checked U joints and now I have a vibration at speed. When i grab the drive shaft with it in gear I have movement of about an 16th of a turn, Is that normal, maybe the cause of vibration.
  8. hi all, I need some advice. Ive scored a drum to drum diff with a 3.8 ratio , so Im going to swap out my 4.8 to get butter revs on the motor way. problem is Ive never done a leaf spring diff swap before. The question is" are the leaf springs under tension when the truck is jacked up in the air". I want to unbolt the spring hangers at the back of the truck and slide complete diff out , check bushes for the hangers at the same time and reassemble the same way. my son will be helping and I dont want any supprises when we are under the truck. Also when we are at it is there anything else we should be checking for while we have it appart. cheers
  9. all is good in datsun world, old fella in the far north , used to import d21 front cuts to put on 720 chassis has a drum to drum 3.7 ratio diff for me. $ 100 all up delivered to my door cant complain at that. yee haaa
  10. have found a diff , sorry have been offered one for $50.00 cash , its out of a c22 nissan vannet the guy said its a 3.7 ratio . Ive done a bit of googleing and can only find ratios in the 4s . dose any one know if they come with lower ratios. I know they have a H190 diff in them, same as mine? what about the axial size ? what are the chances of them being the same size as mine, anything else I should look out for.
  11. its got load hog leaf spirngs in the back rated at 650 kgs each, 3 dirt bikes on back and still got 4 inches from deck so hope fully all will be good.
  12. ok, any suggestions for a diff complete that would swap into the ute as these are real hard to find here
  13. can anyone tell me if I can swap a diff head from a c330 sedan into a 1985 720 ute with a h190 4.8 ratio.
  14. there several screws that attatch the mech on the inside pannel of the door, remove those and cearfulyl slide the window down into the door. there should be a couple of srews at the bottom of the window holding the glass to the slider device. nice and easy cause the window makes a loud bang and then theres lots of small bits of glass every where, I know cause Ive done it
