If you have a wire showing continuity to the negative terminal that is not black that wire could be pinched or melted.

Oly pull the relay out and run a test wire from the (-) negative battery terminal.  Take you multi-meter and check each connector for the relay for continuity with the negative terminal test wire.  Note each color of wire that has continuity with the negative terminal.

Next unplug the blue wire from the choke heater and test for continuity again noting any differences in color a of wire and continuity.

I have a 84 720 FSM but it is loaned out.  I will call the guy and tell him I need it back.

I have had to clean the fusible link plug where it bolts to the positive cable.  This is a bad area for corrosion.  I clean the bolt and nut and added a small flat washer to help the connection.

Thank you nissan.

Hey Mark, good to see you are alive!  LOL  No Mark pink is Genes color.  I am thinking on orange to off set the red truck.  I will be doing the complete front suspension and steering componets replacements in the next couple weeks, so I can install the new tires and the ST wheels and take it in for an alignment.

Next project for this truck is a VG automatic swap probably next summer,

I am hoping to get my left knee replaced before Christmas.

Mike you are correct the 720s do have fusible links, usually 3 of them.  They plug into the positive battery cable end.

720inOlyWA if you disconnect the wire from the choke heater on the carb does the noise stop?

What scares me is what's he gonna be doing in 5 more years..
Plus even though he can ride a 2 wheel bike he keeps his smaller pedal bike with training wheels so he can practice wheelies..... oops that might be my fault.

What did you do when you were a kid?  LOL  Might be some of the stories should be censored until he is in his 30s!!!  LOL

#1521716 I got another one..

Posted by Charlie69 on 05 October 2017 - 06:06 PM

I used the top 2 leaves of the 4x4 leaves and the bottom 2 leaves from 1980 720 2wd leaves.  I had to have my brother redrill the centering hole in the top 2 leaves to center my rear axles in the wheel wells.  They were off 2 1/4" from my stock 520 springs.  The 4x4 springs were from a 1985 King cab 4x4.

Mike I run the stock egr and the cheapest catalytic converter I can buy with my Weber.  The last time I failed emissions and all I did was replace the catalytic converter.

King cab passed emissions today,  good for 2 more years!!!

Here are the last test results after installing a $30 cat.

Emission Inspection Results

                                                                       Vehicle                             Test

                                                                    Emissions       Allowed      Result

Hydrocarbons (HC) in grams / mile:                0.95              3.00         Passed

Carbon Monoxide (CO) in grams / mile:          7.79             25.00        Passed

Oxides of Nitrogen (NOX) in grams / mile:      3.16               4.50        Passed

Remember this is a non smog legal Weber 32/36 DGEV carburetor.

I say you need a real Weber, egr and do a complete tune up.  Order the Weber from Pierce Manofolds.  You might need to rejet the Weber depending on your altitude.

Top speed for any engine depends on how big the drivers balls are.  Enough said!
