  1. Sounds like this transmission woy\uld not working in my situation? Too bad it looks to be in great shape? Who do you think would be interested in this unit?
  2. Mike you were right it was a FS5C71A. I found a drawing from a JDM site that matched my transmission. This was a non-us unit that was shipped here with the modifications for a 240z. It said the "C" indicates steel syncros. Stoffregen Motorsports, I did what you suggested and found the following ratios: 1 gear. 1-2.85 2nd gear 1-1.80 3rd gear 1-331 4th gear 1-1 5th gear 1-.83 Maybe not exact, but close. I used masking tape on the flange and clutch disc. Now I got to figure out either to use it or give it to someone who can be utilize it more? Big thanks to Mike and Stoffregen Motorsport.
  3. Not sure where I would measure, but from the bell housing to the end of the tail is about 31 inches. If you count part of the bolt on flange, it would be 31.5 inches.
  4. The odd thing is that the tail looks different from the pictures for a FS5C71A? It seem rather long? Did the European versions trcome in differnt cases? It seems to be in great shape.
  5. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Tec11coe19iooqvv6 I bought an unfinished 240z project 15 years ago that came with a datsun 5sp. The guy told me it was a competition 5sp, but a modified driveshaft³ was needed to fit a 240z. I read many articles, but I still can't find out what it is? What throws me off is the long tail, different casing and the flange that hooks up to the driveline. Help me solve this mystery...
  6. Datzenmike, Thanks for your input. I pressed the brake pedal to confirm that I have some free play. I guess it's the master cylinder. I wonder if I should buy a rebuild kit for a 7/8 unit or just buy a new master cylinder? I really appreciate your help. Just trying to get the 510 back out there....
  7. Ok I need Some HELP.... I swapped my stock 3/4 master cylinder a couple of moths ago to a 7/8 unit. It ran fine for a awhile, but the rear brakes are locking up now after driving the 510 for about 10 mins. I thought the problem as with the rear brakes heating up and expanding. The brake adjusters are at the lowest level. So I replaced the drum shoes, wheel cylinders and the replaced the drums with a new 240z drum. I still have the same problem. The car would have to sit for about 20-30 mins before the rear brakes would loosen up again. I pulled the drums off when there was still some friction and found that the wheel cylinders were not retracted back into the unit. This must me the cause of the problem? Some how there was a build up of brake pressure causing the brakes to be slightly applied? It must be coming from the 7/8 master cylinder? There is a little play between the brake pedal and so that is not the issue? I've been dealing with this issue for two months now and just need some advice? I've search this site, but couldn't find the answer. Please let me know what you guys think. THANKS!!!
  8. Does anyone know where I can purchase an Upholstery Kit for my Datsun 510? I want to refresh my front and back seats. I found a compnay called "Upgrade Motoring" in SoCal, but I don't know anyboy who has puchase a kit from them. They charge $357 for the front or back sets. I planning on either doing the job myself or using an upholestery shop??? Here is the web link to thier site: http://www.upgrademotoring.com/seats_interior/seat_kits.htm Thanks for the input...
  9. I just bought a pair of e30 seats for my 510 and it seems a little tall. Has any one complete a modification to bring the seat down? It seems like if it's dropped about 1.5 to 2 inches it would be perfect? I appreciate any help. I really like the seats
  10. I like the BMW E30 Sport Seats.. They look like a good fit.
  11. I want to have 195/50/15 (front) and 205/50/15 (back) on my car. I'm think of getting a 15x6 20mm (front) and 15x7 25mm set up. It sounds like I will have to remove the bump spacers to have the fronts clear the rim. I wonder how much I handling I would lose if I removed them? I think the 205/50/15 should be able to clear the rears?
  12. Ok I'm still a bit confused. I've been doing research for some time but I can seem to fit the answers for my application. Here is what I have to work with: Stock 510 struts Lowered about 2 inches bump steers spacer Stock fenders My goal it to have 195/50/15 tires on a 15x6 or 15x7 rim. The question is which rim and offset will fit this application with the bumpsteer spacers? I'm ok with rolling the fenders, but would like to avoid it if possible. Cutting the fenders is not an option. I would greatly appreciate some help with getting my 510 back on the road.
