  1. This weeks episode: Clearing the engine bay, removing the cab from the frame, and grind grind grind followed by rust converter and the waiting game...
  2. So I ordered some vinyl decals from forum member crackerjack69 (AKA Vector Vinyl). They're sick, they're oh so pretty... I can't wait to throw them on my datto once it's built. massive thanks bud. You should hit him up for your very own set. You know you want to...
  3. Thank you Thank you... For the short term, yes the good old L20B goes back in it. Some sprucing up and freshness will get me where I want to go for now. I absolutely do plan on a full drive train swap down the road but I'll have to save up some scratch first. My little beat-around is in great shape so i should get some good use out of it. I will need plenty of stellar advice/tips/tricks for the engine swap though.
  4. Sorry buddy, these were the only ones. I feel like the only ones on the right half of the country probably. They just happened to have them stuffed in a corner. I'll do a dry fit this weekend but I've gotta get the cab of so I won't bolt it all the way up. I'll try to remember to take a shot of it and post here for ya. My drivers side wasn't ALL that bad but the passenger had a pinch in the front so I'm hoping that these fit nicely...
  5. Well for anyone still with me, I have some exciting news...exciting as hell. After randomly "Google"-ing part numbers for my truck, I found a real surprise! I found a company, National Parts Depot in Charlotte, NC and the just listed some 620 parts on their site. I drove down there, traffic sucked ass, and out of the depths of their warehouse, I bought a brand new set of fenders...BOTH SIDES! The sales guy told me that they were in the warehouse when they bought the place 10 years ago. They were on a shelf in the back, all dusty and forgotten. They had to move a bunch of pallets to get them out but I got them. Original boxes from 20+ years ago. The best part... $29.03 a piece. Jackpot. Behold...
  6. Didn't get a helluva lot done today...but got the motor and tranny pulled.
  7. So I got my new front valence and tail-light panels delivered today. The valence looks incredible but the tail-light panels are a little suspect. I ordered them online (absolutely damn near impossible to find). The one panel has a wrinkled shitty spot on it but I'm gonna see what I can work out... The other one is really smooth and clean.
  8. So there is no love lost if they're not on the truck then? We are doing the full cab-off resto so if it was back primed and sealed properly I should be fine without the guards?
  9. I have an advice question...or maybe just a knowledge question. After pulling the fenders off yesterday, the passenger side did not have a plastic fender well/guard behind it to stop spray into the fender itself. Any idea where one might procure said plastic shroud like piece? Anyone have one laying around I could buy?
  10. Got to work on the project some more today. No scary surprises. Here's where we got. Next week engine comes out and the cab comes off...
  11. What does this mean? It's another forum for Datsun Trucks. I don't use their forum but the seller that I bought these decals from runs that site. DMT = DatsunMiniTruckin.com
  12. I really appreciate that. Being my first resto ever, and because I chose such an awesome little project, it's a little disheartening to hear people say I should get rid of it and find something else. I know it's a long road and that I'm going to have to resurrect this little guy from the grave. I'm willing to devote the time. If I don't do it, then it will be just another lost and forgotten 620, discarded and replaced. This truck is metaphorically my life. To me it's worth it. And even if it's biting off more than I can chew, it's worth a shot. I want to be a part of the Ratsun community. I've followed posts here before becoming a forum member and seen the dedication and the pure love that you all have for these trucks. Don't give up on it, or me...we'll make it. And if any of you are brave (and patient) enough to continue to follow my journey, it's gonna be a wild ride.
  13. What does this mean? The pictures look bad but the truck isn't a loss. It's all there. Motor is good too. Brakes are new. Gas tank is new. All the glass is good and the panels are straight as an arrow... I'm only out a few hundred dollars so if it gets way too intense I'll just bail and turn a profit.
  14. Yeah that bed is essentially for scrap. Just had to take it as part of the conditions of the sale. I bought a rust free-ish bed from a guy in Cary NC. The best part is I paid $30 for the entire truck, and $150 for the replacement bed. I'm ready to get my hands dirty tomorrow!!
