    New parts came in.

Yeah , it's been on a vehicle even if only for a short time. The crud in the reservoir and fitting is nasty but it's not rust , more like gelled brake fluid :poop:. This was the only bad item in the 13 pieces I bought from them and this is the only part that was in this condition. I don't think I can wholly blame Rock Auto for this as it looks like they contact the manufacturer's warehouse for shipment to the customer. I do think that the warehouse should have inspected the item before shipping though. Kinda sucks though , was really hoping to get the old beasty fired up and rolling this weekend too:(.

Yay , I got my order from Rock Auto in today. Anyone else ever received their order and gotten a used part? Had to call them and they will be replacing the clutch master cylinder. Hmm , dirty on the outside , OK i've seen worse called "new". No plug in here? and what's that stuff doing in there? Um , starting to think this was mounted up for a while on someone's truck. Yep , must have been mounted. Inside cap. Inside reservoir , yuck.
  3. Hate to burst anyone's bubbles but this was made with several shoots , pay close attention to position of the cameras that were mounted on the car throughout the video as well as the damage it received when the rear of the car hit the wood structure , this was not done all in one video shoot.
  4. Not mine and sorry if this has been posted before. '69 510 2 door http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/1147605209.html
  5. Even up here in WA I've had people try to tell me that there's "no such thing as a classic import" , I just flat out stop talking to them and walk away shaking my head. As far as I know(probably wrong myself here) as early as 1968 with the 510 and PL521 and shortly after with the Z cars. Actually for Chevy as early as 1970 with the Vega and twin OHC in the mid '70's with the Cosworth Vega. Ford had the Pinto in '70 as well but had a pushrod engine option for at least a couple years.
  6. Got nothing to sell either but I'd be very interested in buying!:)
  7. I know there's a lot of ways to do this but has anyone here tried this product yet? http://www.rusteco.com/ If you have whats your opinion of it?
  8. Well , its not so much about feedback on eBay anymore(been burned plenty on there from my other hobby:mad:). It seems some sellers state their items as fitting X amount of vehicles and I know that these parts are not for all of the vehicles they are stated as fitting(key word spamming maybe?). Here's an example , http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-510-520-521-620-Engine-Timing-Chain-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a4Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a200QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem370190422017QQitemZ370190422017QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Now how can this fit my '66 520 with a J13 and a 620 series truck which when stock should have an L series engine(correct?)? Or am I confused? If this seller is a member here , I'm not badmouthing them , just wondering how I can trust them if they don't even know what vehicles the parts will or wont fit.
  9. ...of who to not buy from on eBay or other websites? Been searching all over for just about any parts that I might need and wasn't sure if there was a list compiled yet?

    Newb Alert!!!

Thanks , my first Datsun truck was a '69 521 with the J13 and always regretted letting that one go so when I had the chance to get this one I was stoked! Calling around for parts right now.

    pic of your truck

OK , so I got my '66 home from storage just a few minutes ago and got some pics! I see you! Drivers door needs attention. Passenger side of bed forward of wheel well needs the PO's bad bondo job repaired properly. "I am funkier than you" have no idea where thats from , was there when I got it. Interior pics YAY , err , make that EWW , its filthy. The heart of the beast! Yes , there's that much rust on the underside of the hood! The only cancerous spot I've found on it , so far.:D Nice mirror , huh? The passenger sides wheel well damage.

    Newb Alert!!!

Thanks for the replies. As for parts that I'll be looking for they will be the somewhat harder to find parts I'm guessing , stuff like control arm bushings , a stock and correct bench seat , the piece that the shifter boot attaches to on the floor , strange parts like that and the usual odds and ends. As for pics , she isn't the prettiest truck yet , but I'll get those when she gets home , although I do think some local members from here may or may not have seen her in the storage lot. I've been told that a LOT of people stop by and ask if "that little truck" is for sale.

    Newb Alert!!!

First off , hi everyone. So ummm , yeah , I've had this '66 L520(bone stock:eek:) for about 11 years now , used to daily drive it till about 7 years ago and now I think it's finally time to start doing a resto/mod with her if I can find parts easy enough. Sorry , no pics yet , but she comes home from storage this weekend:D. She hasn't been started in about 4 years:( so first thing is a new fuel pump , carb kit , oil change and clean out the gas tank. I'll get pics as soon as I can. Getting kinda giddy wanting to drive her again! Oh , and any advice on parts sourcing would be greatly appreciated!
