  1. Thanks! I'm not really sure at this point... For now, I need the rear glass installed, driver's side door handle, the interior put back together, etc. After that, I want coils, some new wheels, flares, basic maintenance, the usual stuff. :) Luckily, most of the body work has already been done to the car so I don't have to worry too much about rust, but the paint could use a little wetsanding and polishing. I'm still debating about what to do with the engine, though. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the L26 and get rid of the flat top carbs, go with an L28 and convert it to carbs, or drop in an L28ET.
  2. Here's mine, an early 260Z. I traded this a week ago for my beloved MR2 but so far, no regrets. :)
  3. Sorry for the long response, I went to go see the car yesterday, though and it looks promising! The car comes with a those coilovers, the wiring kit, and a few things to convert the L28 back to EFI (it's running on SU carbs right now), but I'll probably sell the EFI stuff. The interior is gutted, but he has all the parts to make it complete with the exception of carpet. Took a flashlight and shined it all around the car to check for rust like the hatch area, doglegs, floorboards, etc. Surprisingly, the only rust I could find was a little tiny spot in the engine bay! The guy seems pretty honest, so I'll probably take his word for it that there's very little to no rust. I should be going tomorrow to pick it up, but I'm a little worried about getting it to pass smog. One way of getting around this would be to register it as a classic car, which would make it smog exempt, but that would mean I can only drive the car 5,000 miles a year. :( What do you guys think? Is there a way I could get it to pass smog so I could register it as a regular vehicle? Paint isn't the greatest, but it's not too bad! If it were something a little more subtle, I think I'd be a bit happier though haha. I might just plastidip it for the time being until I can afford to strip back the paint and restore it properly.
  4. Hey guys, so I put my MR2 up on Craigslist and got a response from this guy who wants to trade for his '74 260Z. Those were the two pictures that he sent me. Here's all the information that he gave me: L28 from a '83 280ZX rebuilt less than 3000 miles ago mated to a Borg Wagner T5 transmission R180 diff EZ 21 Wiring Kit (Not installed but included) Techno Toy Tuning Coilover Kit (Not installed but included) "Rust free" (I'll believe it when I see it!) The interior is gutted, but he has the parts needed to put it back together with the exception of the carpet Disc brake conversion with big brake kit New master cylinder The only problems that he informed me about were that the wiring needs to be redone because the wiring is brittle and grounding somewhere, the brakes need to be bled, the shocks need to be replaced, and there's a leak on the rear seal of the transmission. My only gripe is the paint job and rims, but those are just minor issues. :) What do you guys think? I'm going to check out the car later today.
  5. Thanks, (the last two are the same haha) but I would like to get one that's around my area such as California, Arizona, even Utah. That silver one is a steal, though!
  6. Tried contacting the guy, haven't gotten a response. :( But I did find this one: http://monterey.craigslist.org/cto/4346856330.html What do you guys think? I need more information on the car, but it looks promising, especially since it's the Black Pearl edition.
  7. Sorry, I should've been more clear in the title. I meant "Rolled Over Odometer". Anyways, I contacted the buyer again last night to ask some questions about the paint, body, etc. and he still hasn't responded. I'm most likely going to pass on this one. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to where I could find a Z that's worth buying, please let me know. Thanks everyone, for your help!
  8. Thanks! I tried this, but it came up with no records on the car.
  9. Thanks everyone! I failed to mention that I won't be buying the car with cash, but I will be trading my MR2 for it instead. The car registered as a California car right now. He sent me a picture of the title with the VIN and all the information on it. How would I go about getting this title search? I tried getting a Car Fax for the car, but it didn't find it in the data base. Is this because it uses a 11 digit VIN?
  10. Hello everyone! Recently, the temptation to find myself an S30 began to surface again, so I began scouring Craigslist and the newspaper classifieds for some 240/260/280Zs. Long story short, I stubbled upon this 1976 280Z: The seller wanted $9500 or trade for an old school Japanese car. At first, I thought the price was a little ridiculous for a car like this, but then as I read through the ad, it became more and more tempting. It has a clean title, headers, exhaust, Brembo drilled rotors and brakes, new shocks, new tires, new hub bearings, and best of all, only 7,000 miles on the odometer. That sealed the deal. I HAD to have this car. But then I remembered that these Z's had 5-digit odometers and the odometer could've easily rolled over and it could have 107,000 or even 207,000 miles on it instead. I contacted the seller and began to ask some questions, mostly about the mileage. Just to make sure, I double checked to make sure that the car only had 7,000 miles and that wasn't because the odometer had rolled over. He confirmed this and told me that the previous owner had recovered the car from a garage in the east coast and it sat for 16 years. I asked for close up pictures of rust (if there was any) and he sent me these photos: At this point, I realized that this was an amazing deal. Almost too amazing... The 7,000 miles seems a little too good to be true, especially since I've seen Z's with twice as many miles going for double the price. So my question is, have I found a super amazing deal, or is there something I should look out for? Also, is there any way to know for certain that the odometer hasn't rolled over? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
