  1. Thanks for the replies. The clutch never worked. I'm assuming that was the reason it was parked. It all appears to be original. The collar is the shorter one and the clutch kit I bought was for a 71. I also still have the old p.p. and clutch disc. They didn't have too much wear on them. I'm manually moving the clutch fork by hand to eliminate the hydraulics. I can see that the release bearing isn't not pushing on the fingers, just barely touches it, then the fork bottoms out on the trams case.
  2. Hello, I have a 71 240z. Production date is 03/71. I've been have an issue with the clutch not disengaging. I have replace master/slave, all lines, clutch, and p.p. When i inspected the the transmission, I found the throw out bearing was not reaching the pressure. This is manual moving the clutch fork with the slave pushrod disconnected. I have verified that I have a early style three piece transmission and matching throw out bearing. Will moving up to the later style(longer) throw out bearing solve my issues? Thanks in advance, Beau.

OK, so stupid question. But, how hard is it to install a starter. Ive done this abunch. But when I installed mine, its missing the flywheel. Any weird tips I should know?

Thanks for the help. Turns out it was the fuse link. Now my issue is the starter wont engage the flywheel. I thought I put it on right. Never really had an issue with put a starter on. Hopefully, I will get it sorted out tomorrow and get this thing back on the road
  5. +1 for the fuel filter. Im sure youve checked that, but thats what it sounds like to me. FWIW I had a car that we put an electric pump on and we you turn the key to the on position, you could hear it buzzing away, all the way in the cab.

Right on, I didnt think there were any relays in this system. I pour the schmetacis and find out were to begin. It was fine until I took the starter off. So, Im thinking something in the selonid or the wiring to it.

Alright, its been awhile. Heres my new dilemma. I put the carbs back on and tried to fire it up. The starter kept clicking. I pulled it of and had it test. It passed. Went out today to work on it and nothing. No lights, no clicking. Nothing. Battery is charged and I check the fuses. None seem blown. So my question, Is there like a main relay for these cars? I looked online and didnt really find anything. Im stumped again and any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the help guys. Im in the process of cleaning the carbs, but will have them back on by the end of this week. I will update and let you know if the problem is solved. Also, thanks for clearing up my question about the vacuum inside the tank. That was driving me crazy!

Great info, but regarding the fuel filter. Just one in the bay and two in the carbs, right?

. I wont, aleast not until I get the carbs back on the car. I just want to make sure Im going through all the steps correctly. Points gapped, timing set, correct fuel pressure. Is there anything Im missing. I know its simple. Just fuel, air, and spark....Well, I guess, a little luck. Haha

Mine had sat since 2000. But, I jumped it and drove it home. Drove great, but would hesitate in the higher rpms and would take off kind of slow.

Haha, for the most part. I dont feel like I might fall into a deep sleep that I might never wake up from anymore. By the way, Im looking at the dizzy upgrade right now. Any good write ups on the installation and parts list? Just a dizzy out of a 280z right?

No, I know which line youre talking about. It isnt that one. Its the one on the drivers side of the tank. Runs up into the left side of the rear hatch. It solved my gas fume interior, though.
