  1. Duno where this would go, so here goes, Fuel tank is getting rusty, pickup tubes are rusty and sending unit is shot, and pickup sock is shot aswell. Tank is possiably saveable but a new sending unit(complete from stealership) is roughly 200bucks I guess my question is do they make a plastic tank with sending unit that is reasonably cheap? I dont mind going race cell if I can keep it cheap and mount it as a stock replacement... the max wagon has tons of room without the spare tire mount on Anyway, any sugguestions?

So im in the middle of doing the 240sx FS5W71C trans swap on my 84 max by swapping a 280zx front bellhousing., i've read everything and i understand jist of it, but i was wondering is the boss on the backside of the housing that has to be milled, is it a thrust surface? my machinist (by hand) ground down the boss in the diameter needed to avoid the countershaft gear, but didnt bother worrying about exact clearance. i so i want to be 100% sure if it had to be machined perfect or not... thanks for any input
  4. Reminds me of when i did my first set of wheels, sanded/polished the lips from satin to mirror with a similar method, but mine was KA24DE powered ;)
  5. whats up guys... figured id post real quick for poops and giggles, after a little car hobby hiatus, i picked up an 84 910 Wagon with the L24E and slush box. motor was pulled but then replaced after PO had to bail on an RB20DET swap. good news is the chassis isnt too bad like most datsun cars, swiss cheese... Also related, I found two 280ZXTs in a local JY,one w/ slush box and one with a stick, i think you see where im going with this... ill post pics asap but i was wanting to get idea of the biggest hurdles in this swap and ways to deal with it, im aware of the oil pan sump problem but not sure what to do, also not sure about the 5speed clutch pedal... everyone ive talked to said it was drop in but trying not to be surprised when i get this going any info would be apreciated
  6. Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I just finished a set myself and then found this thread. Probably going to put on my 85 s12, or my 83zx not sure yet What you guys think? Face is plastidiped red while lips were stepped from 220grt all the way to 1000grt with my s12 as a mini lathe ;). I used mothers instead of polishing compounds

  10. i think that the point i want to go to an FS5W71C is when i would go KA/SR/FJ, which right now all i want to do is drive the crap out of it and get every MPG that i can squeeze out of it, ill worry about performance later if i get board of my 500hp FJ20 S12 :D(still being built... slowly lol.) Wonder what I'd have to do to get it to the "MPG" version status, the one that got 56mpg back in the day... I don't know how long the transmission are, but i could possibly find a 71C out of an S12(came in the SEv6 and some l4 models) which I know is shorter than the one in the 240sx, which also makes me think that they might fit, id just have to find a b310 bell housing(which means i should probably stick to finding an entire trans instead) the FJ trans is a 71B trans, same thing out of a 280ZX, DR30 Skyline and the MKI S12s. heres a pic from someone with a Btrans, maybe that might provide more info so what your saying is that the automatic motor/trans share the same bolt pattern and the 5speed/trans motor share a different pattern? thats teh gayz... also, i haven't found anything on the "A10 510", apparently production was 67-73 or something like that
  11. how hard would it be to get an S12 FJ20E transmission into an 81 Datsun 210 (Datsun Sunny B310) I have three extra FJ20 transmissions(motors are shot at the moment) and one LHD FJ trans has anyone tried getting one of these into a B310? what about getting an KA24/SR20 trans in? I'm not partial to the A-series motors and would be willing to swap if it were easier, i just want to get away from the 3spd autotragic that is in the car and Ive tried looking for a stock 5speed for it, impossible to find for me... thanks tim

    does anyone have an idea if an L Series oil pump will work for an FJ20? im looking to find one close to the FJ20ET's flow rate
