  1. he wasnt much older then me, I probably would have had a lot of fun hanging around with him, he looked like a fun crazy guy
  2. Yes it has been a horrible year, lost my best friend to cancer, another good friend has a type of cancer he will never fully get rid of,and i was run over riding my Schwinn i restored, and broke my back, which will never be the same. Again, yes i sympathize with you, this year sucked
  3. Dont forget the fram have other issues, such as the awful threads, they are notorious for blowing off,and they often leak, the bypass valves often immediely fail also, i know far too many people who cured a startup rattle,or odd pressure loss,by trashing one, personallyy i wouldnt run one on a dying lawnmower
  4. I always follow these there were some good ones up then the info got old and the pictures stopped working, some of the good filters then are now garbage as they were sold off, for a note wix and nappa gold are the same thing, there used to be a nappa silver, but not so good, the bosch filters have also cheaped out as well as the stp, interesting that both had the same parts stamping on. The base plate
  5. the brad penn works fine in daily drivers the hot rod guys run it, it says "racing" oil because this lets them get around the EPA mandate to remove the zinc, they can't sell it with zinc as a regular oil
  6. definitly, ever cut open a fram? there's a reason they sell them at walmart, cheapest filter they can get there hands on, wix in EVERYTHING, I have heard from plenty of hard core engine guys that the Brad Penn oil is the shit for older engines
  7. everyone I know swears by Brad Penn oil, it's actually the original green Kendall oil, they bought the refineries, wells, everything, and make it just like the original stuff, it has the proper zinc etc in it
  8. can anyone of you guys change a drawing into a cad program? I was going to make a Possum Werks plate for the side of my oil cooler and we have a heck of a laser cut place up here in Berlin,if I could take them the program and some scrap they can cut it
  9. yes, I want to take a sawzall to those fart cans and to those dam park benches sticking out of the back of the car, wack them with it and say WTF were you thinking? park benches go in parks not on trunks!! whats so dam funny is half the time you can see the little rusty pipe going into the giant oversize muffler, no making the end of your exhaust bigger does NOT make power, the annoying sound does make people want to empty a can of spray foam into the muffler though
  10. craigslist? I've been working on my little hatch since I got it in 99, it's been off the road for several years due to major projects on it, it's not something I can just go out and find, they are getting rare and really hard to find parts for, I dont drive like an ass eithier, mainly because I know how much work is in it, and the fact I did it all myself, with the help of some great friends and welders, try finding parts for any Honda 25 years old or older, I have more hours then I can count in the yards. You'll find that a lot of the guys in the community do the same thing, we arent all a bunch of douchbag ricers revving at every light, it's those idiots amoung us who give that impression. Shit, my car has a bunch of Datsun parts on it, including the carbs.
  11. well I have a 2.0 litre accord it makes as much torque as any other old 4 cylinder, the civics with the 1.5 and 1.8 are weak though
  12. yea they keep making them bigger and heavier and less well engineered, I had a 98 civic and everything broke on that car, the transmission failed, it was an auto, and apparently they all were bad, so finding a used one was out of the question, if so much hadnt been wrong with it, I would have converted it to a five speed, the od ones are a different story, I had an 81 civic with half a million miles on it
  13. yep, generally those of us with the older ones also hate the ricers, sometimes in time they can be shown the error of their ways, depends on if they are complete douchebags or not, generally the ones who stand around their cars with the "stance" and wear their hats an an angle with a look of total idiocy, they are beyond saving, and dont get me started on those idiot cambered wheels sticking out of the wheel wells at an angle like they broke a ball joint
  14. thats really bad luck, very unusual for those kinds of issues, it sounds like cars that were beat on, what year crank broke? Thats almost unheard of, I dont know if they are still the same, but it used to be every single Honda crank was forged and nitrided right from the factory, thats high performance stuff stock. Most of the old iron block ones, the blocks and cranks are pretty bulletproof
