  1. Im in talks right now with a member here to buy his 76 Datsun 710. Been looking for one for years and never been able to find what I need and want . My very first car was a 74 710 coupe and had a ball. Spent a fortune and was a very fast car capable of 110 mph in the 1/4 mile. This one will be over the top. Im not buying motor or tranny cause what I have in mind will make some of you think im full of crap but I have planed this for a while. What im planning is to turn this car into a pro street car. Already in talks with a local chassis builder who is going to back half the car. That means gutting everthingfrom the start of the rear seat and making your own frame . Plan on putting in a 8.8 in ford rearend narrowed to accept a set of 13-15 in wide tires . the power plant will be a 351 based dart block with a consertive 400-450 hp. A auto tranny will back this . Now this is just a very quick description of my plans . I do not tke this lightly . I know what im getting into as I but a 8 year project similar to this with my son on his truck. For the purists I am not and would never cut a mint car for this project. The car im looking at is not the best shape in floor boards frame and some body panels. So in all reality it possibly would be scrapped. If this project moves on I will be updating as I go. Thank yo all NEIL ELDER
  2. i havent seen this one . Not quite what im lookin for. This is what im lookin for http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b19/Elder_/Datsun%20710/1974DATSUN710A.jpg
  3. Anyone on this board near Toronto besides myself. Had my first Datsun back in 1976. Should never of sold it. Now Im lookin for another 710 .I will have one soon Neil
  4. No this isnt going to a post about how to store a car. I was thinking it would be a cool question to ask the drivers who drive their cars all year if they do really enjoy them all year. As you ca see by my sig that I live near \Toronto On and have to put my Mustang away for the winter. In the spring there is a feeling you look forward to when its time to get it out. All most the same feeling as spring time and motorcyle time again. |Also when winter comes I get to work on the Mustang . ||Last year I did a tube cross member and A arms, coil over conversion , and lots of other items. So if your from warm climates lets hear your side NEIL
  5. Congrats on the 710. I have just joined this board just for the purpose of buying a 710. I have one in mind just have to convince myself That I need another project. Also I live near Toronto Ont and seems like all the 710s are at least a 10 hour drive.
  6. Actually it was fair on fuel . Although it did prefer avation fuel it woul run on pump 94. But its all relative. If you want to play you got to pay
  7. Just thought would post 2 of my project that will never be finish.. Mustang is my "MID LIFE CRISIS" My wife bought it for me and I have done so much work its to long a list The KAWASAKI NINJA green truck is my sons. Bought it when he was 16 and never drove it just jumped into a project. Its an 85 chev High Sierra dropped 10 inches rear and 8 front . Sheved door handles gas tank welded tail gate and lights and custom made roll pan with 72 caddy lights mounted . Every nut and bolt removed and either powder coated or changed for stainless. has a 355 with 600 horses and rear tires are 15 1/2 inches wide . Over $40,000 in parts and dont know how much in man hours
  8. You ar so right sir. An L88 hood . Common hoods for cameros and chevelles. I was luck to score one for the 710
  9. wow that is one nice 710. ts probably better than my old one ... Stupid question though. where is medford
  10. No actually the hood is a cowl induction hood for the 710s I bought from PIRANA Motors in Toronto ON. I even went out and bought "Cowl induction " emblems from the GM dealer and put them on. Man did I catch crap from the wife (GF ) for spending $28 dollars on those stupid things. If only she knew how much I spent on the car to get it lookin that way
  11. As the title stated im BRAND new to this site. BUT have been a 710 lover since I was first introduced to cars. A little back ground. I am just about to turn 52 yrs old and still clearly remember my very first car. It was a 74 Datsun 710 . Bought this car from a buddy and began spending money on upgrades that very day. It cost me $700 back in 1977. A lot of money for a farm kid that made $5 a day doing chores and looking after the horses. But I was the coolest kid in grade 9 . Took my friends everywhere. Anything to drive that car. Many a party was held in that car . It was the first car I even got lucky in with a girl ( she is my wife and have been together 32 yrs) But as all things the car got rusty here in southern Canada and with my wedding coming up it went down the road. But not before I took it to the track 1 last time. I am a 1/4 mile guy and that little 1700 cc car took me down the 1320 at 12.95 sec and at 107 mph ( had a lot of work done to it ) That is why im on this site. I have been looking for another 710 for years now with out luck . But I have leads on 1 here and am trying to work out the details . Hopefully I can get over my mind telling me" you dont need one " and recapture my youth again . I have lots of pictures of my car but not digital except for 2 that I will share with you now Anyone is able to see all my albums and you will see I do have a car called MID LIFE CRISIS. This was the MID LIFE CRISIS car but still need my 710.
  12. This is exactly like my very first car.. even after looking at the rust Im still very interested in purchasing and restoring this car..Dont count me out yet
