  1. I have the tach in the top picture, with the wiring of the tach in the bottom picture. I did find that connector under the dash. In your picture is the blue wire the red under the black wire at the plastic piece, or is this how the tach side is wired. If this is the case I just have to find dash lights plugs to work or hope the case is grounded. I could not pass up the tach for $45.00. Mike you rock!!!! Thanks for all of your help. Ramlover14 (Mike)
  2. I bought a tachometer for my 79 620. Took out gauge cluster to install it and have questions. I found a yellow with red tracer taped up in main harness with a female bullet, tachometer has male on that color wire. The tachometer also has a black wire with a female spade. On the back of the speedometer(from the tach I bought) is a small box with a red that goes to speedometer, a yellow that goes to circuit board, and the yellow/red with female bullet coming out. I have know idea what year of truck the tach came out of. How do I hook this up. Is the tach out of a truck with points, that why it has that box on the back? I am trying to take picture but having problems with my photobucket acct. Thanks Mike. P.S. will have major update soon. Motor, trans, brakes, are done. Had engine running, but have to change heater hoses (factory a/c is a bitch to do) and hook up tach.

    Coil wiring

Looking to install the ignition coil and my 3 books do not tell me were the 2 wires go. I have a black with white tracer and a blue wire ,what is +and what is -.Thanks Mike.
  5. Having worked at a NAPA store for 20+ years and if the counterman has the time. Look up stock the shock parts number , the specs on that shock ( mounting type and lenght). Next how much longer do you want to go? Then start looking in the specs on all the shocks to see what might work. I have done this a hundred times with guys with lift kits
  6. I am looking to make my 1979 620 into a dually. I have read about bearing failures and the parts are hard to find. I have found a rearend out of a 1984 720hd dually in a salvage yard. How hard is this to swap into my 620. The guys at the yard are no help in giving me info on how far apart are the spring perches are(winter sucks). I think this could be my biggest problem.I have a drive shaft builder close if u-joints are different or I can not find a combo joint to fit.
  7. Hi, will the rear end out of a 1984 drw hd fit without a lot of fab work. I found a truck that has the the complete rearend, rims and 4.23 gears.
  8. I found my A/C parts by using the web site mypartsshop.com. It will list the salvage yards that are on this site that have trucks with the parts you need. I was lucky to find a yard in N.C. that had every thing I needed for $185.00 including shipping (compressor, brackets, idler pulley system,3 groove crankpulley, and all the bolts.) You need to let them know if your system is factory or dealer installed A/C.
  9. If I find the dually adaptors can I use the stock rims that are on the truck now? I know I would need 2 more but those are easy to find.
  10. Not starting an arugment, I know my truck a long box. I just want to make sure if I choose to make it a flatbed with duals, I am not going to regret it. With trying to restrore 2 trucks I have to look at all my options. I am spending a lot money and time on the 79 with A/C and 62,000 miles to kept it alive. Living in Wisconsin I have to look out of state for parts, shipping ect. The truck that I want a flat bed will never be original, to much rust. Before I post in parts wanted section, I jusy want to make sure that is the right way to go.
  11. The truck I am thinking about putting the flat bed on has a 5speed and no air. I just think they look better with duals under them. I built a flat bed for my 83 toyota years back and it fit my needs at the time. I read on line about recalls on certain dual set-ups and rear bearing failures and do not want this to happen to me. Plus how hard are the adaptors and rims to find, remember in Wisconsin they have been scraped many years ago. Do i need different rims with the adaptors? Wayno that truck looks so cool!!! Maybe a little over loaded? I know where thier is a set of 1 piece rims, but the nobody around here will put tires on that style of rim.
  12. Look in Chicao craiglist,If has not been flagged there is a new one for sale.
  13. I have this idea to replace my long box 620 with a flat bed. It is to much money for me to replace it with a rust free one from out state, cost of box, shipping and painting. I would like to put dual rear wheels on it for looks. I know that the rear end and or truck can't tow or haul 2 tons. Is there any pros or cons to this idea that I have. I would like to know your feed back.I have read online about some recalls on some set ups, and seen the adaptors that are out there. What is the best and what should I look for. I have posted pictures of my trucks before and they are coming along (slow) being in Wisconsin. I have also found a link to find parts that works great, mypartsshop.com. I found my A/C parts in less than 20 mins. I want to thank the Rasun members that did help me out, you guys are GREAT. I will wait to see what you guys and gals have to say on this question before I post in the parts wanted section. I have found hose clamps and bolts from Kubota that are far cheaper than what I have found on E-BAY, E-mail me what you are looking for and I will see what I can do. What I need is size, thread pitch, ecapulated lockwasher, ect.
  14. If anybody can give me phone numbers for salvage yards that has 620's in them please let me know so I call them. Z-train can you give me parts numbers for the lenes, the guys at my dealer ar younger than my truck. It is hard for them to find most of the parts I need since they have to jump thur hoops to find these trucks on thier computer. Thanks Mike.
  15. As i look for my A/C parts high and low, I find fenders on craigslist daily.I believe thier is a set in Oregon, plus I see guys parting out trucks left an right. If I go on tonight I will make a list of cities and post them.
