  1. Nope, nice guess though. I'm sure an old Navy boy would know (hint).
  2. I never really found it, it just ran good after reassembly. I got rid of all of the smog since I had it all tore down, and redid all the gaskets, which probably solved the problem. FYI after doing so, actually lost a few mpg, probably due to the lack of recirculating exhaust gas, which in theory may help the motor suck less raw fuel in the first place. Anyone else have any theories on this? On a side note I have had vacuum leaks with the adapter kit that came with my weber quite a few times. It is actually kind of a shitty design in my opinion, I ended up milling the adapter plates all flush and doing some filing to finally fix those... Just an FYI if anyone goes that route.
  3. I thought I'd put up a thread about my jeep. It is my actual project, even though I like to tinker on my truck from time to time. It was my grandfather's, who bought it in the early 60's. He passed away when I was 8, but we still had some fun times in it. Yeah that's me in the passengers seat, +5 For anyone who can identify what is on the towbar. He was t-boned by a truck in the early 70's, which left the outside in pretty poor shape. A frame shop straightened everything out and he pretty much beat the tub and fenders out with a bfh. My uncle and I actually got it up and running, after it sitting for about 10 years, when I was about 14, and I learned to drive on it. When I turned 16 my grandma gifted it to me and I was going to make it my high-school dd. Unfortunately, it required too much work and it sat for a few more years. 4 years later I decided on taking it to my new place and making it a project. Remnants of the old damage... Thumbs up for the girlie creeper on the wall! So after the paint was done, time for the motor. I had a 302 chevy motor built for it. Followed by a 3 spd ford, and the original t-case with overdrive. I updated all the brakes, and threw on some vintage off road tires to complete the look. I know the Green and yellow is obnoxious, but that's how my grandpa had it, and I see it as kind of a tribute to him. It was too dark to show the inside, but I have had the original seats recovered and turned the entire back to a toolbox with my stereo and offroad equipment in it. I'll take pics another time to show that. I know it's definitely not a datto, but it's my pride and joy. And my datto lets me play project with this, not to mention gets twice the gas mileage, and I do appreciate that!
  4. Yes sir! Guess I'll have to put a thread in the "other" section.
  5. I know this is a dead post but go with the 83-84 bed, the boat mooring tie tie-downs on the outside kick ass! I know the later model "flows better", but I love the look of the rolled out edge with hooks. If I ever have to redo mine that's what I'll do, just to get the double-wall bed but retain the look. I rhino lined my bed up and over the bed rail on the outside to match my black paint body line and I think it looks titties!
  6. I'll keep it in mind, I'd like to maybe find 4x4 springs as it sounds like they are slightly thicker and would allow me to take my blocks out and retain ride height... That or I'll take some measurements and head to PnP.
  7. ...inspiration... So, on the list... Find and paint center caps for my wheels Find and paint bumper Paint door trim, and under rear window Mini c-notch, with some sort of bag setup... I'm thinking about using an air spring setup out of a semi truck and fabbing up some mounts when I do my c-notch so I don't have to worry about bottoming out with a load... ever...! What to do first? Probably going to have to wait til the new year... stupid holidays... Can't we just not spend anything on each other, and spend what we would on ourselves? Then we would get what we really wanted!!! Sorry, back to:
  8. I love these bulbs for the light they put out, they are pretty bright inside for dash lighting though! If any of you go this route hopefully you have a hole saw! I had to drill mine to like 3/4" and file the rest of the way ~1 1/8", it was a bitch!
  9. Those bulbs are replaceable usually, the are just really f%^&cking on there! I have one as a dash light in my jeep. I'll go whip it out and send you a picture of it... bahahaha!
  10. I assume you're talking about the 720 above your comment... if so, here you go! If not sorry!
  11. If you don't have it in low, I see no other possibility besides the tach being toast. Is it an after market tach? And is is calibrated for a 4cyl?
  12. Ok... 55mph =+ 29" tire + 5th gear (.85) + transfercase in hi + 4.11 gears = 2226rpm all the same shit with t-case in low = 4452rpm This is why people are telling you something is wrong. Given all the facts you have told us these are the calculations.
  13. There IS absolutely a reason to take it out of 4wd... wear and tear. No reason to have the tcase/driveline/etc spinning if it doesn't need to be. And have you ever lost a front driveline on the freeway? I have... not fun. No point in arguing about this until you have it running, but there is NO way you are doing 5k at 55, without something being wrong. period.
