  1. Car got broken into - need door glass

  2. Awesome thread!! - got a few questions - I am building my 83 goon - What did you use to clean the rims?!? looks sweet - What did you finally do for painting brake components? which product did you use ? great ratsun!
  3. Let's get this sold! many views - anyone make an offer - I am willing to take the loss on the new bearing, but I want to not just junk it.. Offers accepted!
  4. Thank you - I re-read the rules and re-posted the for sale listing - Let me know if I should add anything else to make the post clearer.. thank you for your help...
  5. Whoops!! it's the original driveshaft for a 83' Datsun 810 wagon. Automatic. 2.4L 6 cyl. This driveshaft has a new bearing installed - it just needs to be balanced. Looking for best offer - willing to ship.. thank you
  6. So I got the driveshaft replaced after feeling a rumble - First - I suspected the rubber-housed bearing on the driveshaft - it comes as two pieces knuckled together. The output of the Trans is actually off-center - so to center it up - they made it angle after almost 14" after the trans output - Turns out this driveshaft needs balancing - and there needs to be a machine press and a clamp to make the driveshaft properly. Please buy this if yuo can use it - the bearing has 23 miles on it...... I linked to some pix - you can see the spline for the transmission... http://thenovelsound.org/83-Ratsun/Driveshaft/2013-01-13_17-21-01_347.jpg and the knuckle with the new rubber-enclosed bearing ( apparently a $200 value - but I will let this whole thing go cheap - name Best offer! http://thenovelsound.org/83-Ratsun/Driveshaft/2013-01-13_17-20-05_429.jpg All relevant pix at: http://thenovelsound.org/83-Ratsun/Driveshaft/ All general pix at: ok _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ http://thenovelsound.org/83-Ratsun/
  7. I am geting our driveshaft balanced and repaired for towing - will post pix - etc. soon!
  8. if anyone can find a set of rims like this: http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/8581/aug1511004.jpg and can verify they will fit an 83' maxima 810 wagon -please contact - will buy!! especially in the 15" variety!!!
  9. What a sweet car!! great find!! How about those rims? Did they go to the "collector" as well? Who is this collector and does he/she have parts? Amazing a Datsun lover could even sell a car so clean.... The slant 6 story makes a great laugh - Good luck!!
  10. you could add a little strength by sandwiching the sheet metal from the other side - Reaching out to hte framerails would be even better for strength... great weld, though...
  11. Does anyone know how the tailpipe hanger should attach or might you have a pic or diagram? I think the tailpipe I have is aftermarket and not installed properly. It is also welded and I think attached twisted from the position it should be. It matters for the project I am doing. It always rattled when sitting in drive at a light... I am in a position where I have to modify it anyway, but any info would be very helpful. Attache is a link to a pic of the issue http://thenovelsound.org/83-Ratsun/Exhaust/2012-12-05_18-04-39_706.jpg all of the pics in question for the project are at : http://thenovelsound.org/83-Ratsun/Exhaust/ thanks fellow ratsun enthusiasts!! peace, flipster
  12. hey - you made a quick comment on the springs - Got details? are they stiffer? Sounds like it with re: dirt track racing - got a supplier and part #? yours should fit mine perfectly - but might they even make taller riding - even stiffer springs? I agree with you on the sway bar tip and anything you find interesting on the sway bar aspect, please post and share!!! I am presetly looking for a set of parts ( drv. side view mirror electric, orig. wire hubcaps, oil sender & info, E brake transaxle cable, even a radio antenna and hood ornament!) and would love details details!!
  13. Well, the thing does have an unusual mounting bracket fabricated for the purpose - but since we use the car and have to make the repair work on the spot I just decided to go with the bracket fabrication plan.. The 85' firebird alternator comes with the right pulley, costing a little more but saving a step ( about $75 ) I am sure I could have hunted harder for a proper fitting unit - but I decided to use what I got. As for the connector, It just needed a standard female blade connector. I soldered it for extra reliability and in case of heat, etc.. Definitely soldered the connector to the power out - That terminal can get hot if everything is on and running ( rain - wipers/ defroster/ high beams ) http://thenovelsound...alter-retrofit/ I seem to only have time to work on this on weekends with school and 2 jobs & a sick canine.. ;-( But the alternator and bracket seem to be working happily!!!
