  1. Kicked myself in the pants and went to local junkyard and found one for 100$ which still has fuel level sender unit in it and looks pretty clean inside. Any ideas for best method for cleaning and repainting the outside other than just stripping it and repainting it? Also picking up a new OEM Nissan Fuel pump. Got the bed off the other day. So nice and easy to work on without that on. Pictures soon or I'll start a new thread for my rebuild to stock project.
  2. Would love to get a wrecking yard one but they are usually drilled out and beat. Do you think these would still be better than one from autopartswarehouse or some such place?
  3. Existing tank is some overly welded thing that PO jerryrigged in there because they wanted a bigger gas tank. It is rusting, annoying because gauge doesn't work with it and I just want it back to stock.
  4. Pulling my bed off to get it repainted and fixed and want to replace gas tank at same time. Any ideas where to buy a new OEM one?
  5. Oops, sorry guys, I meant king cab not double cab. Freudian slip in that I wish I had a double cab.
  6. Does an 83 single cab 720 bed bolt right up on an 83 double cab 4X4 720?
  7. Did not realize I was posting in a different style/size than standard - I apologize, is this better? Everything looked fine on my mac.
  8. Will an 84 2wd Z24 engine work in my 83 4wd Z24 if I switch out the oil pan and do nothing else or is there something else I will have to do to have it work properly? thanks
  9. Thanks I will contact him. I know it can get spendy but I have to do something to make this truck last a long time.
  10. My 83 Nissan 4X4 Kcab has horrible compression, a very nice bottom end death rattle (not the valves), and other issues. As a result, I am looking for advice on getting the engine rebuilt or a new to put in. I can pull it myself but would rather have someone else rebuild it or just get a newish one. Any advice on this? I'm in Snohomish/Everett area. Thank you.
  11. Best forum ever! thank you. I will update my other thread as I work on getting my truck up to better than new.
  12. Quick question to anyone - can I easily swap in an 85 non 4x4 z24 in my 83 KC 4X4? Thanks
  13. The yard I go to sometimes is the one with the old lady and she is definitely . . . different. A real old school metal scrapper. Quick question to anyone - can I easily swap in a z24 from an 85 non 4x4 in my 83 KC 4X4? Thanks
  14. Any advice on swapping in a diesel from an 82/83 king cab into my 83 KC 4x4. Is it relatively straight forward if you have the complete donor truck for all the electrical wiring, fuel distribution stuff? Thanks
  15. In reply to the engine sound, it sounds OK at idle but real bad valve clatter like sound under load (not valves because I have checked and fixed those) up to 3500 RPMs then it kinda quiets down. Will be looking into it soon.
