  1. Are there any Datsun guys getting together the night before the JCCS? What about Friday night. Is there a place to go see cars just cruising? Has anyone been to the Observatory in LA for a Concert? FEAR and TSOL are playing Sat night after the JCCS and we may head to that.
  2. Thanks for the input. Just thought about the Petersen Automotive museum too. Anyone checked that out before?
  3. My 10year old and I will be traveling out the JCCS Show from Minnesota for the first time this year. Im looking for other things we can do that might be fun. I see the Toyota USA museum will be open 9-3pm Friday, so part of our trip will include that. Cars and Coffee Irvine is 7-9am on Sat. We may try to head to that. Anyone ever check it out? Is it worth the time? I'm hoping the show will spark some ideas and reinvigorate me to finish my 510. datsunonwheels by Chadsci, on Flickr Thanks Chad
  4. I just ordered a rear panel for my 510! Cant wait to get a set of fenders and bumper stuff when they arrive! Thanks Chad
  5. I forgot to post up a picture of the Trans adapter mounted on the 1.8t and with the T5 trans. I will have to re-engineer the lower suspension/cross brace to clear the oil pan. I just set it place for a second but it does fit. As soon as the motor mounts show up I can start fabbing up the brackets. I also picked up an intake manifold for it from the guys at 034 motorsports. This should look and perform great. This style of manifold is flippable and allows the intake to sit either front or backwards. I believe facing towards the front of the car should be the best layout for this build.
  6. After a crazy summer at the shop this is where the car sits. I was able to put together some front and rear suspension to allow me to test fit the wheels. I used MR2 fronts and Camaro rears stuff that a lot of guys use. I machined groves into teh lower portions of the sleev retainers to keep the sleeve from kicking sideways. I saw these wheels at SEMA show last year and knew I had to have them. Enkei Compe Classic's Great price and the fitment is perfect. I think I may need something wider in the back but these look great. Best news I've finally been able to start buying some sheet metal for the Datsun. I just ordered the rear panel from Futofab. The fact that I also need fenders and bumpers has me hoping my first purchase from them wont be my last. As I've heard all kinds of great things about them I dont see any problems. You can see how bad the rear section is above.
  7. Perfect. Just what Im looking for. I have been wondering about what I want for the street in my Datsun. I have 275lb spring for the front and was thinking about what to do with the rear spring. I grabbed a 7inch spring but it looks a little short. I think I either have to make a adapter like the one used by techno toy or use a much longer spring (8-9inches).
  8. Love the garage space you have set up for yourself. Seems like sometimes that can be half the fun of a project car.
  9. What BMW is that power block from? Would love to use something like that in my own car.
  10. Damn I love the wagons and this blue. Very cool.
  11. Hey all, I'm in the process of putting together the suspension for my 510 and would like to know what you all run for actual spring rates. If you are running coilover sleeves and coils please list what weight you have and how they ride. In my previous car(a vw Rabbit) I ran something like 325lbs in the front and 250-275 in the rear. It was awesome. Im just not sure what to run on the 510. That's why I have turned to you guys. Number of doors? Motor and trans? Front spring rate Front spring length type of shock insert Rear spring rate Rear spring length Brand of rear shock How does it ride?
  12. Not planning on adjusting these to much. They are measured to be the stock length as they sit. Just no rubber inner bushing. But damn that style would be a lot easier to adjust on the alignment rack.
  13. Hey all, I have been checking out some of the past builds others have done and thought I would try and put something together. With QA1 in town, I called a local vendor of thiers and ordered up the hiem joints and needed parts. Once we laid everything out and found a small dimple in the steel that was the perfect messurment to line up our cuts with. This worked great and we had these done in under an hour or so. And here is the finished project. What you cant see is the extra weld we did on the inside were it is just spot welded. Now I just need to get them powdercoated. Thinking chassis black or flat black.
  14. This is what I worked on today. I wanted to make my own set of heim jointed Lower Control Arms for the 510. I ordered the hiem joint and weld bung from a local QA1 rep. The parts showed up the next day. We also welded the back side of the LCA where before were just spot welds. Also the T5 Trans showed up too. I now have all three big parts. The Motor, The trans adapter and the Trans. I should be able to test fit the motor and trans next week.
  15. Thats what Im thinking. I found some 3.75-4inch stuff at the metal scrap yard and will be redoing it with that. I will wait until I get a Plazma cutter though.
