  1. this write up is pretty good just follow it step by step…. and the differential that i got had a round plate where the drive shaft meets the diff so it wouldn't clear on reassembly so i had to swap out it out with the old square one so it can clear the sub frame and good luck man
  2. thanks again for the great right up finally got it installed and im super pleased 4.11 gears are great and the welded diff make corners fun.... and here is a picture of the damaged I did to the cross shaft at first I was tapping it from where the cross shaft has no hole and got it super stuck ,so in my case the correct way for both my diffs was to tap from the side that has the hole for the pin in it thanks again babybooey great write up
  3. I found out what I was doing wrong that cross is tapered on one side and I was motivating it in the wrong direction but luckily it was the old diff got it swapped and welded now time to reassemble great job on the right up man even a newb like me who has never done any diff work got it pretty easy thanks
  4. Now I managed to remove the pin holding the cross but the cross won't come out do I have to punch that out as well??
  5. Sweet man thanks for that info I first I thought I just moved the semi colon over and that was my ratio 4.11 it is thanks man
  6. So I ended up getting 2 diffs the stamp on on is s37:9 6 10 7 and the other one is 39:11 hp 2: 3 2 ...... Is the first number the ratio? or do I have to do some sort of calculation to find the gear ratio???? And which one would be better to use ?I'm running a 13b street port with a dellorto 48dhla sidedraft

  8. Thanks for the reply I have to take it apart to make it fit my 510 so I will count the teeth or look for a stamp
  9. I just got an r180 off a 86 200sx with a z20 does anyone know how to check gear ratio on diffs?
  10. This has never happened in my neighborhood I've lived here for 10 years and no one has ever fucked with any of my cars I've even left my garage door open when on vacation and nothing has ever been stolen ... I'm thinking it might of been Someone that owns a Datsun and followed me home to see where I park cuz nothing was stolen not even the radio or my sun glasses or my book bag filled with ridiculously expensive books they wanted to strip and use them on their own car
  11. Sorry about the confusion I added the car have not tried the dealer just thought parts for something this old wouldn't be at a dealer but I will try it
  12. 1971 datsun 510 4 door So last night my Datsun was broken into and the ignition switch was broken looks like they shoved a screwdriver in it and tried to turn it lucky i have several kill switches unless u get all of them there's no way it's going anywhere happy it wasn't stolen but now I can't find a replacement. and none of my local store sells them and can't find one online... Does anyone know anywhere I can find one or if they don't exist anymore what can I do to fix it? Thanks for the help
  13. well I painted my 510 in my driveway haha if u decide to paint ur own car the best tip I can give u is spend LOTS of time on ur body work the more attention u pay to making everything straight the better ur paint will look specially when working with body filler. make sure its all featheredge and smoothed out or else u will end up with waves all over ur car I had to find this out the hard way .. as far as stripping the paint down to bare metal if its original paint I would paint over it but if it has 2 or more coats I would strip it down that way u don't have any issues in the future of paint cracking from being to thick .... also do urself a favor and buy base coat clearcoat and not single stage paint better quality paint the better ur finish and of course here are some pictures
  14. will a 1970 2 door 510 fenders fit a 1971 4 door 510??? cuz I know the doors are different from a 2 door and a 4 door does the same rule apply on the fenders cuz I got a great deal on some fenders and I don't want to get them if they wont fit
