  1. Hi all; One day I went to start my 620 truck, and when I turned the key to start the truck, the " CHG, and BK " red light flashed on, and then a huge bang, it sound like a gun going off right next to me inside the truck, even the neighbors heard it, and then ALL of the electrical went out, including all of the lights. I went out, and bought a new battery, and positive battery cable with a new Fusibile Link, and when I hooked it up all of the lights worked again. I tried to start the truck, and I just heard a small clunk, and then all of the electrical including the lights went off again. If you leave the truck alone for a day, or two, and then hook up the battery the same thing happens again. Today I hooked up the battery again, and the lights came on, so I took my hand held starter button, and clamped it onto the starter switch, and the positive side of the new battery. The key in the ignition was off, so I pressed the starter button, and nothing happened, except all of the electrical system including the lights went dead again, and the motor never had a chance to turn over. I am now thinking that it is a bad starter that is doing all of his electrical going dead stuff, but I have never seen this before with a bad starter. This is my first Datsun pickup, so I am now clueless. Has anyone else ever experenced this, and does anyone know how to fix it.? .. ( My Fusible Link is still ok. ) Thanks for any help, I need it. George
  2. Thanks for the information, but where can I buy a Fusibile Link for my 620 pickup, every auto parts store I go to says they can't get a Fusible Link because the truck is to old, so where can I buy one ? Does anyone know what they cost ? Are there any Datsun parts stores any where in Calif.? Do they have any Datsun pickup clubs, or cruises in, or near San Diego, Calif.? My dad had a cousin that lived on Vancouver Island in the 1960's, we used to go there every 2 to 3 years, and also all over Canada for the rest of my relatives. Thanks, George
  3. Hi All; I am new to the Datsun stuff, and I don't know where to buy parts I need when it comes to electrical. 1. Does anyone know of an Honest parts dealer where I could buy a Fusibile Link that goes from the ( pos. ) side of the battery cable down to the connection ? 2. It looks easy to make, but just incase can anyone tell me if I need to buy some kind of special wire to make one, and what gage, and length it should be ? The guy that I bought this truck from kind of jerry rigged the Fusible link, and then just twisted the two wires together, and put electrical tape on it. Also... I want to rebuild my stock Fuel Pump, does someone make a re-build kit for it ? Thanks to ALL for your help, I really appreciate it. George.
  4. Hi all; My 1973 Datsun 620 had the following modifications done by the former owner. ( other than these it is stock. ) 1. L20B motor. 2. Electric fuel pump. This is the way the truck was when I bought it, and I made No Modifications other than ALL new brakes. Yesterday I tried to start my pickup, and I heard the elect fuel pump working, and then it stopped. I tapped lightly on it, and the fuel pump started again, but it still wasn't getting any gas to the carb.. I then turned the truck off, and went inside for a while. Later I then went back to try again, and when I turned on the ignition to start the truck, the Red CRG. and the BRK. light on the speedometer immediately flashed on, and off, and then a loud Boom like a Fire Cracker, and then ALL of the electrical went dead, nothing, no lights, no radio, not even a click on the started solinoid, everything is now dead. I can't figure out where to start, or how to fix it. When I looked at the wiring I saw that someone had cut the wire where it looks like a Fuseable Link was cut out, and the wire twisted together on the positive side of the battery. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to fix the electrical again.? ( The battery is new, and works fine in another car. ) Thanks George
