I stumbled across this site several months ago while I was considering an LZ24 for my car. I race whats considered a stock class of 4 cylinder stock cars. A few years ago I had the car to beat with my stock z22 (Its an 83 200sx) The fuel injection gave me excellent throttle response out of the corners and made the car quite competitive. After taking a year off I have come back to a class where most of the top tier cars are fox chassis Mustangs running modified 2300;s (cam, adjustable timing gears, etc) What took me out of racing a couple years ago was the death of my 2.2. At that time I was running 195/60-15 tires in second gear at 7k rpm. Motor had well over 100k when it finally gave up, but had completed 40 or so races by then. Since then I have wiped out 2 more z22's in the car and finally ran out of injected motors. I now run a z24 carbureted out of a pickup. Car is still relatively competitive in its stock trim, but I need a little more. After reading the forums here I am thinking there may be other better, more plentiful part type powertrain combos I should look in to (such as a ka24). The class requires single cam, naturally aspirated (efi or carb are ok) 4 cylinder engines. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for your help,
Lance
