#1566162 Building a new motor.

This is just my Opinion.

SR20 turbos get maybe 180-200 to the ground. This is a modern motor

getting 200hp to the flywheel on a L motor is a magic trick by using money/machining skills with a manchinist you dont know ect...  A really good distributor(ignition). This is really 1960s technology

140/150hp to the ground MIGHT be possible  anymore I would not considerate a good daily driver motor( around town )

SEEN 200 with a TURBO and some other magic tricks.

A KA with a Turbo is like 250 to the ground

be honest I bet your the only 510 with in100miles where you live. Just seeing you drive one in your area  is really worth more than putting all this into it it in my opinion.

#1566129 My 74 Datsun 620

Posted by banzai510(hainz) on 23 May 2018 - 09:13 AM

I think just keep it running and it wont cost much..Esp if a rust free truck thats been garaged$$$$$$  A running useful car is better than a project that never ends or completed

Wisconsins are no datsuns anyway and you trying to make a swap with weird motors is just going to make another datsun go to the dump. Which is fine also.

nobody buys these datsun when they are done cause most are hack jobs that maybe sell for 2K.  Just not a practicle truck .

even a later Nissan  KA/SRengine I say 75% never get completed as the electric get most novice entry level car owners.

Do the brake swap 1st then back to us if and when it gets dome

If not done by end of summer just sell truck

If your using a L series Trans your fine

Be honest just rebuilt the L20 and call it good.

2.4 yourll need to do the headgasket mod and I think lengthen the chain

I believe youll be fine.

Youll use the 510 motor mouts you have

Prolem was IF the trans cam from a Napz and put on a L motor the bell housing needed to be swapped.

On NAPZ  cars and truck the carb was on the other side and motor is more straight up.

but in a 510 the mounts tell the motor the otherway. and the trasns is then tilted.

In the END I belive your fine. oher willchime in on this

is te 2.4 a high reving motor?

#1565111 Clutch Set Advice

Posted by banzai510(hainz) on 18 May 2018 - 12:06 PM

I WOULD THINK A 225MM WITH A EXEDY STATE 1 WOULD BE ENOUGH CLAMPING

impoortrp.com has these in the aftermarket section listed wit other clutchtes

but I guess 240 have better grabbing surface if doing burnouts. Fidanza I assume its aluminum FW already

#1565016 Ignition on - I got nothing.

Posted by banzai510(hainz) on 18 May 2018 - 06:14 AM

soemthing is loose or corroded

could be some others issues?

Battery charged?alternator shorting out ? cracked lug on battery cable  Im just winging it now but I think ts a fasable link lug up to the fuse box no making a good connection which causes a load and draws down the voltage
