this is why one should sell 510s at max rate to keep the low income dudes and kids from getting them. One who pays alot might take cate of them more.
But Its hard for me to pay alot for a datsun knowing back in the days you could pick these up for 700$

I pull the intake off and I leave the exhaust manifold with the Y pipe together and push it off to the side. as I dont like pulling the Y pipe .Bolt bust.
you need to put motor close to TDC then bust the cam and crank nut loose then put motor to TDC . Mark the chain link. if your NOT going to take the front cover off.
those are pretty long bolts. Be hard for it to fall totally straight then turn 90deg to go flat on the bottom.
Might as well pull the whole motor now and redo the whole thing if your taking off all this stuff.
if you git a L16 the Felpro HG is OK
L18/20 20 I would find a Nissan gasket
This is my Datsun 510 stock strut.
Jeff Hino(Icehouse) cut the stock strut perch off and welded the new perch at the same location as I use 15x7 +25mm wheels. I dont not want the perch to be lower as it would hit the tire.
Then Jeff said get a 7in tall spring. Most springs are 8 inch. Luck I got the 7 and I still had to dial it DOWN all the threads to get the look I want.
My shocks are for a 280zx 79-81.. some save VW Golf shock will work also. You will have to cut a section of the tube out
Looks like a Datsun 521 fron wheel clyinder.
7/8 is =to 14/16s right. Not all that much size different 13/16
My 521 has off size wheel cylinder cause I didnt want to wait or not avail at the time fixing brakes
those hoses are still avail and I always buy 2 anyways of both upper and lower.
Champion does make 510/521 radiators, but you need a 1/4 spacer to keep it off the upper core support ledge.. I got 1/4 plastic spacers from a hardware store. Best to glue them on rad first to make it ezer to intall.
