When I was about 13 years old I got interested in engines and stuff.
One of the first things I worked on was a Wheel Horse Garden Tractor and learned a lot about engines.
When I was about 15, I got interested in car engines and we had a 1979 Chevy C10 sitting around with a 350ci engine so I got that running. It was running for about a week and then one day when I had a full bed load of wood and was flooring the 4 barrel Edelbrock Carbed V8, 2 of the 3 bolts holding the cam timing gear on fell out and the timing gear swung down, and it died.
So I took it apart and replaced the timing gears and got a new timing cover and got it running again, only to have the transmission not work at all..
The next project was a 1985 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with a totally busted engine, I looked at putting the 350ci engine in but I would need to replace the axles, transmission, and other various stuff, which added up to about 5 grand and 10 MPG.
Turned 20 and got my truck.
