  1. Thanks for replying Wayno. Yep checked it, its not OEM, its a "OE direct replacement" ignition switch for an 82, and while it doesnt have the entire steering lock mechanism, it does look very similar to the back of your switch. the closest wrecking yard with an 82 is a 2.5 hour drive for me, so id like to try and use the swtich i have since i can't return it, and dont want to make the drive unless i have to. You said the wiring diagram has only 4 wires, but in your photo i see 5 connections on the switch, i assume one is splitting? also, I can see most of the markings on the back of your switch, that should point me in the right direction, is that an S in the top left?
  2. I have 82' 720 that has seen alot of half-assed mods in its life. At some point the PO replaced the ignition switch with an el cheapo ignition switch. It has been driving me nuts as it will often get stuck in the start posistion and fry the starter. I bought an OEM style switch and went to swap it out. The aftermarket one in there only has 4 connections; ignition, accessory, battery, and ground. The OEM one has 5 connections which are only numbered, the switch didnt come with a diagram. I was trying to troubleshoot it and try different connections, and was able to get the truck to turn over and catch, but not stay on. Anyone one know what the connections are supposed to be?
  3. Looking for a busted 720, preferably 81-82. doesnt need engine or trans. What do you have? im located in seattle WA, but I'm willing to drive for a good deal.
  4. Those wheels look great! Something like that will definitly fit in the budget, I never did mind a bit of work if it means spending less. I have been meaning to go over to pick and pull, but work has kept me busy. hopefully this weekend. might luckout and score some other stuff for this truck too. The previous owner half-assed every mod he did, and now im gonna try and fix them.
  5. those are nice, but bit out of my budget right now. I was hoping to get some stockers on the cheap.
  6. I just bought my first datsun, a 82' 720KC. Its in decent condition, but it needs a bit of love. The PO put on some cadillac wheels. I think they look like crap and would like to get the stockers back on it or something that looks better. Not sure what other years will fit this truck. I saw this 620 while cruising the forum and would love to have a pair of these for the truck. Will these fit? Also here is a picture of the truck i just bought.

    buying a 720?

New member here. I'm thinking about buying a 720. I found what I think is a great deal, $1300 for a 1980 5-speed king cab. I was curious if there are any common problems associated with these trucks that i should pay particular attention to when im checking it out. Owner claims it is in excellent running condition, waiting to have him send me some pics.
