  1. L20B, only 4 plugs, The newer motors have 8 plugs right?
  2. I hate these wacky smogs law, I wish they would bump it to cars over 25 yrs old. My 1980 Datsun 720 extra cab Failed last Sept 2011. I got my fees paid and insurance. But driving with old tags. can the police still hassle me?
  3. I was trying to load a bigger pic, had a hard time
  4. Your garage looks like mine with the Rebel and Earnhardt Flags. LOL, I love that stuff. I'm from NC
  5. I seen a guy driving a old school Red Datsun Wagon on D street/ hwy 18 Victorville Ca heading into Apple Valley around 330-400pm today 5-19-2012. He Had a Red Ratsun sticker on the rear window. I was turning into Maxwells Burger joint and tooted the Horn when I turned. Any body know this guy?
  6. I seen a guy with one of those at Lowes in Apple Valley ca about a month ago, it was pretty trick.
  7. I had 67 for around 13 yrs, Paid $1500 for it when it was a bomber. I changed the Motor, trans and rear end when I got it. It had a 305 that had a knock in the motor, The guy I bought it from gave me a 283 and 350 turbo trans. I put those in. The rear end had a whine to it, so I bought one out of a 63 4 door for $40 and put that in. I had my Brother inlaw paint it in my back yard.$500 on paint, $600 for his Labor and about $400 on new bumpers, Door handles Drip rails and a Valance . Pretty much did everything on the cheap. Hagerty insurance only charges Around $130 a yr for $13,000 full coverage. I had a couple trick 65s in the 80s and a 66 I never finished back then because I got married and had my 1st son on the way. Here's a youtube of the 67. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APKGa2AP7zg Thanks guys for your tec help. I love my 80 Datsun and it pretty much is my Daily Driver. I'll put a pic of it up soon.
  8. It seems fixed now  . I took out bolt #81, but was having trouble trying to get the larger jet #83 out with the metal heat plate in the way, so I went ahead and pulled the carb. When I took out the smaller jet #80 I could see a mirco spec of what looked like plastic. Then I cleaned out the bowl/float area, it seemed pretty clean. The carb gasket between the metal plate and the carb got torn so i put a little sealer on the tear :crying: ."IN THE past I had a hard time FINDING NEW carb MOUNTING gaskets" I also tighten all the screws on the underside of carb, they seemed a bit loose,I also tighten all the other i seen around the carb. Took it out for a spin, it seems good now. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!
  9. Thanks Guys, I'm off to tinker with it, I'll let you know later today how it went.
  10. Thanks for you info/help ggzilla, After I take out 78-81 do the jets fall out? or do I unscrew them 80-83 to get them out. also, should I remove the glass cover and clean it out inside with carb cleaner.? I had a 200x honda 3 wheel atc that I had to do this to a few years back as I recall now. The thing would only run with the choke on and someone told me to clean the jets, then it ran fine.
  11. You see in the picture above, The bolt #39, the I need to take the bolts off that are just under that number 39 right? I think it's the # 78 and 81? to clean what your saying right? and then 80 and 83 screws out? A hour ago I took out the #46 in picture and cleaned it out and put it back, Again, It would just idle fine, but would not go down the word worth a damn. every time I would hit the gas it would bog down. I'll tear into it tomorrow. Let me know on my question above.
  12. those bottom jets look like I need to pull the carb to get to them.? Is the rag trick for reals. :poke:
  13. I have the Chilton book part #6816, 1970-89, page 292. you referring to the primary main jets # 17 and, secondary main jets #18 in book? I take those out?
