  1. Honestly I never attempted to run the old engine. When I got the truck I was told it was running but it had sat for a while. I wanted to step into higher horsepower and looks so I swapped. Going dual Mikuni carbs and no smog junk. Plan lots of chrome and polish once done. Just run what ya got until you research and see other things you may like. Good luck.
  2. Hey man, I'm just up the road in Hampton, GA. I may have a few things from '77 620 if you need. I pulled my original motor and swapped in a KA so that's available. I too am shooting for a bitchin ride when all is said and done. I had to slow my roll after my freelance gig decided they couldn't pay me my invoices (2 months behind). You know Fatt Stripes or any of the Freaks crew? Stay in touch.
  3. I've read your article like 3 times. Inspiration for mine.
  4. Got the parts today. Thanks for packing them so well. BTW, where can I find some of those cool filters I've seen on the stacks?
  5. I'll try to get some better pics up soon. The stock trans does bolt up but as said, it has lean to it. I mainly wanted to get it set in so the guys who'll do the bodydrop will have something to work around. And I get to see how it's fitting somewhat.
  6. Thanks! We finally got the motor set in just see how it's all going to fit. Looking for a 5-speed out of an early 720 to replace my automatic that came with the ka24e motor. I really want a manual transmission. Got a custom manifold already and some dual Mikuni carbs are on the way. Ditching all the electronic stuff because I want a super clean engine bay.
  7. Motor mounts look most excellent! Very professional and clean looking—looks like they came from the parts store. Can't wait to bolt 'em up. Thx for the sticker too.
  8. So I'm swapping a ka24e into my '77 Datsun 620. Found a few threads on the swap but I have questions... Maybe dumb questions (?), I'm not sure about some of the terminology. What is a "Napz bell?" It looked like the stock 620s transmission would mount right up to my ka24e perfectly but now I'm not sure. Sorry, I didn't know if this belonged in the Engine or Drivetrain threads?
  9. Well, I was going through the same questions a couple of months ago. Went with a ka24e. Just pulled the original motor out of my '77 Datsun and still researching threads here on the swap. I'm going carbs for more show and less wires and electronics. You may want to keep all that stuff though. I'm going full bag and bodydrop too.
  10. Okay, got pretty convincing opinion that this is indeed a ka24e!
  11. Okay, so you can tell me 100% this is a ka24e ? Here's another view if it helps.
  12. Okay, just repeating what I was told by others here on in the "Engine" forums. I don't know much about engines but I can tell you all kinds of stuff about auto paint and graphics!
  13. This is mine... ka24i ??? ???
  14. I just picked up a ka24i apparently (thought it it was an e) but don't know what the differences in an i and e are. They look very similar. Furthermore, I can't figure out what it came out of. I was told a '97 hardbody but others disagree. BTW, Oil pan definitely look to be an issue.
