  1. Yeah I want to get some 15" wheels eventually...I really dig the new Enkei COMPE wheels, anyone have luck fitting these on a 510? But not sure if the gun metal goes with my color, may go Panasport..but right now I have to focus what money I have left on drive train/suspension. Anyway and update on the KA, after much deliberation with my Nissan expert friend... I've always wanted to turbo it eventually, and considering prices/pros/cons of putting a turbo on the KA, he's talked me into (rather I convinced myself) to spend the money now and go with the SR20DET...so it has been decided, so it shall be done. Working on procuring the engine now, then have the big decision of moving the turbo or upgrading to rack & pinion. I have officially reached the point where I'm in over my head...will be curious to see what comes out the other side and when.
  2. Thx guys... yeah my girlfriend thought I was crazy when I spent $1600 on multi-colored rusted Datsun, but the bodywork/paint changed her opinion of it completely. I have yet to see another 510 on the roads up here in Montana, so I get a lot of people asking about it, even with the tired L16 blowing blue smoke. A longtime SCCA friend is coming today to help put the KA in, so I'm really excited about that...will be nice to be able to pull out into fast traffic! Might actually get it done with time to enjoy it before the snow flys...already addicted to driving it, may need to look into a AWD conversion to match my Forza build. :) ...BTW, the body guy didn't remove the chrome around the windows, but you could never tell...he did a great job of getting in the channels
  3. Been a long time coming, so feels good to finally post some updates! Super happy how it turned out, much as I imagined it... Before.... After... Got lucky with an amazing autobody guy, will post some pics later of all the patch work he had to do...when I first bought the car I didn't realize it was held together with fiberglass! Still a long way to go, I choose to do things bassAkwards...make it look nice first, but its still all stock underneath. I already have a KA24DE I'm putting in, already have the 280zx front end that needs to be installed, and rear end makes some awful noises, so that needs to be gone through. But it makes it a lot easier to sink more money into all that stuff when it looks so pretty! I'll have to admit, the last year of research and asking questions is finally paying off...all the pieces are snapping together! So thanks to the all forum admin, mods and members for all the info...invaluable. Now the big question...to tint or not to tint the windows!? Cheers! -Chad
  4. Yeah nice eh, pretty much happens when you think you can drift a 510 on Montana dirt roads. Then got frustrated will trying to get them off, thus the cutoff pipe.
  5. Not sure if there is any interest in these, could be fixed with some fancy welding.
  6. Question about the 280zx strut swap... I've read when you do this, it naturally lowers the front-end by about an 1". So when you weld/split collar the 510 lower perch on 280zx strut, if you put it in the exact spot where the 280zx perch was removed, is this the basis for the 1" lower ride height? Then from here you can lower/raise the lower perch to adjust the font ride height? My 510 is all stock and trying to set it up as a Daily Driver, so I'm not looking to lower it except maybe for the 1" from this strut swap, I think it would have a meaner stance, agreed? Also read where people cut a coil from the 510 spring...its this advisable considering my setup?
  7. Thanks Silky..kinda what I was thinking...and that's one clean looking goon
  8. Sorry if this isn't the right place....but I'm curious if anyone has tried to ship a 510 hood within the US? What company/method did you use and what were the costs?
  9. I laughed at that as well, and whats funnier is that is the original color of mine!
  10. So many of you have likely seen these goon pics on Autoold: http://www.autoold.com/1971-datsun-510-wagon-resto-mod/ I've been getting ideas from it for my build, but I have a 71' 4dr. Main question is, anyone know what paint color that is? Using this: http://www.automotivetouchup.com/choosecolor/choosecolor.aspx?year=1971&make=datsun&model=all+models I'm guessing 911 - Tirolian Dark Green. But I'm curious about the 939 - Italian Olive, anyone seen this on a car? Next, are those 14" or 15" panasport wheels on that goon? And the long shot, I dig the mirrors, anyone happen to know what they might be off? Lastly, I'm struggling with the paint color more than I thought, go original Nissan color or not? If not, should I go sold or metallic? Pretty set on some shade of darker green, but these questions keep f#@$i with my head, so I'm curious to hear any opinions on the matter. I appreciate the input from you guys.
  11. Dang......you are messing with my mind! :) I do want a better ride and might try some autocross eventually...so guessing I want more rubber. These still for sale? -doh nevermind, thought these were in Seattle and was going to be in that area....can't imagine shipping rims/tires is cheap to Montana.
  12. Cool, appreciate the info Klassic...awesome deal on these, but gonna hold out for the 15"
  13. If I have zx fronts struts and stock rears, not lowered at all....what offsets are ideal with the konigs? ...do 15" fit fine without any crazy camber, or best to go 14"?
  14. Really need to find a hood for my dime which is tough in this area. And I'm guessing shipping can't be cheap, so if any one around or passing through knows where to find one...would be much appreciated! BTW, are the 68-73 hoods all exactly the same?
