some states require trucks/suvs to have those mudflaps when the tire sticks out so far, if they dont have them they wont pass inspection. so thats why they are on there.

thanks man, and yep this is my first car. I've been into the offroading scene since I first got my license. I've had an 83 toyota pickup, an 87 toyota pickup, and my current truck a 92 toyota pickup. But now with the way gas prices are all but one of my friends that i wheel with have sold their 4x4's and gotten smaller cars like a 240sx, nx2000, mr2 etc. so i figured i should get a car so i could keep up with them lol.

Whats up everybody, I figured i would introduce myself since i just joined. My name is matt i'm 20 and I am now the proud owner of a 78 280z (and only the second owner too). My uncle was the original owner and he drove the car up til 1997 when the headgasket blew and its been sitting outside his shop ever since. And when i asked him about the car a few weeks ago he decided to give it to me (for free) because he wants to see it back on the road again. It does have a slight rust problem (decent sized hole in passenger side floor pan and usual rust around wheel wells) and he also said that 5th gear slipped when he parked it. Now this is my first vehicle that isnt a toyota so I will probably be asking a few questions when i start workin on it in the next few weeks, I have big plans for this car and with your guys help hopefully they will come to life! heres a few pics of it when i got it a few weeks ago:
