  1. Hey guys, sorry for the delay in posting. We had an absolutely amazing weekend of racing at the 24 Hours of Lemons - MSR Houston on November 11th & 12th, 2017 WE (finally) WON CLASS C!!! - Wooooo It only took 5 YEARS!!! - https://www.facebook.com/danallenwilson … f=mentions 5 years ago, at MSR Houston, the Ratsun Racing B210ZX made it's debut. It was cold, rainy & miserable that weekend 5 years ago. The Ratsun wasn't even finished (not running), but I was determined to make that race happen. As a then rookie driver, I was completely overwhelmed by the support that I received from many of the veteran Lemons teams. I had several people (whom I had never met before) descend on the Ratsun in order to help get the car finished and up & running. We failed tech a few times, but finally got everything worked out. Unfortunately, we did not get the Ratsun running until Sunday morning and we only managed to turn 6 laps that first race. It ran like crap,.. It handled like a refrigerator on ice,... but everyone loved it. I remember everyone cheering as the Ratsun B210ZX rolled out on to the track for the first time. Having built a car that had not ran under it's own power in over 18 years, and then driving that car out on to a race track for it's first drive was one of the greatest moments of my life! (The 24 Hours of Lemons judges gave us the prestigious "Flock of Seagulls Award" at the first race in 2012.) (https://youtu.be/0Ykf8Po5GSg) Fast forward,... 5 years later... I kinda knew we had a shot at Class C this time. We even had a side bet going with another Class C team. We had come SOooo close over the years. Ask my team about this past weekend, and they'll tell you that I refused to check leaders boards all weekend. I refused to check the # of laps that we had made all weekend.... I seriously had NO idea that we had won Class C until I came off the track after the checkered flag on Sunday afternoon,.. Lemons Head Judge (Steven McDaniel) approached me as I came off track into the paddock. He leaned into the car and he simply said "It's about fucking time!!!" (*insert very loud WOOooo-HOOooo here*) Here is a YouTube video showing some of the contact we had on Sunday 11/12/17. Lesson Learned!... "DON'T try to thread the needle". The Ratsun Racing B210ZX has some new battle scars from this incident, but still managed to limp on to a Class C victory - (BTW, sound commentary is hilarious!) (https://youtu.be/-cLPJC9O0X4) Here is a link to a great write up that Lemons Judge Phil did on the Ratsun's quest for a Class C win via Roadkill.com - http://www.roadkill.com/24-hours-lemons-houston-winners-2/ Here is the link to our MSR Houston 2017 album on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1468401179881094.1073741830.409499749104581&type=1&l=2189372e49 Here is the link to over 1000 pics taken by Lemons Judge Phil from the 24 Hours of Lemons @ MSR Houston - http://www.murileemartin.com/UG/LMSR17/LMSR17.html I wanted to personally THANK everyone for their support of our Ratsun Racing B210ZX over the years! Without the help of this forum the Ratsun B210ZX would have never made it onto the track back in 2012! THANK YOU!!! This pic is from our 1st race at MSR Houston in 2012 Ratsun Racing B210ZX @ MSR Houston 2017 (This was our 10th race in 5 years)
  2. This is the BEST The 24 Hours of LeMons video I've seen to date. These guys do an excellent job explaining what it means to be in LeMons Check out “Halloween Meets Gasoline - The 24 Hours Of LeMons” by Marcus Ubungen on Vimeo. The video is available for your viewing pleasure at: Enjoy!
  3. Actually my wife made all the Ratsun caps for me & my LeMons team... I give them to all the LeMons judges.
  4. So, I gave 24 Hours of LeMons Judge Phil a Ratsun Racing cap 3+ years ago,... and he's still rocking it! Check out Judge Phil representing Ratsun Racing on Top Gear USA!!!
  5. Last weekend we had an absolute blast representing Team Ratsun. After 5 different attempts at The 24 Hours of LeMONS (over the last 4 years) we finally won the big one! We came so close at MSR Houston in 2105, but last weekend The Ratsun Racing B210ZX won the coveted IOE!!! Many of you at Ratsun.net contributed to the build of our B210ZX project with parts recommendations, build advice, compatibility, etc... Some of you even purchased the old parts we removed from the car back in 2012, which helped us fund the original build. An extra special THANKS to Dennis from Ratsun who actually wired the entire car for us back in 2012. Without his help, the car would have never made it to that 1st race! THANK YOU!
  6. If you are in the North Texas area, then come out to Eagles Canyon on April 9th & 10th for the 24 Hours of LeMons The Ratsun Racing B210ZX will be running it's 5th LeMons race!!! 7. For the 1st time in nearly 8 years, The 24 Hours of LeMons had to cancel a race due to the weather. So, this is what you do when the track is frozen & the race has been cancelled! Enjoy!
  8. Well, apparently "butt-terrible" is considered an honor in the world of LeMons. Love it or Hate it.. We made the LeMons Wrapup Video!!! (again)
  9. Video from Sunday11/16/14 - https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10203287997864670&l=6858364531483350020
  10. We are running 300lb springs & coil-overs in the front, but we still needed a sway bar for better handling on the track. We ran without a front sway bar at the last Lemons race & the car's handling was all over the place. We absolutely needed a front sway bar this time.
  11. Front Sway bar resolved?... Kinda.. we took 2x6 steel boxing plate, cut it down & fabricated new mounting locations & then welded them to the inner side of the frame rails. (I can post pics if anyone wants to see) FYI... The 120Y sway bar (part# SWB1200) MadDat offers does NOT fit a B210. The mounting locations are off by 2" on each side. Biggest problem we found was with the geometry of the 120Y bar that MadDat shipped me. Even though we created new mouting points, the bar didn't have a lot of travel. It's cleared the KA24E front sump oil pan, but with the car off the ground & on jack stands, the swaybar would rest where the oilpan meets the block (not good). With the car on the ground, the bar was hitting the crossmember near the end links, so we had to notch the cross member slightly in order to give us some clearance & allow the bar to move up & down with the suspension. All in all, it worked for this race,.. BUT I'd rather have a sway bar that actually fits a B120 & provides the proper clearance & travel. I'm tempted to take the MadDat bar to a company that a friend recommended who will make custom sway bars to order. He had them make several custom sway bars for his company for various models of Mercedes (check out: Feind Motorsports). The overall length of the MadDat sway bar is correct,.. but like I said before... the mounting locations are off by 2" on each side. The sway bar mounting spots on a B210 are 28" apart. The MadDat sway bar mounting points are 24" apart. I am sure I could have this company custom make some sway bars for the B210 w/ a KA or SR front sump swap. I just don't know if it would be cost effective.
