To datzenmike. Because i am new to the transmission game. Please excuse my ignorance ahahah. What do you mean marking both input and output spline. Like with a marker. If so your saying 20 input turns will = to 6 or 6.5 output turns. Is it as easy as it sounds. Anyways ill check it when i get home. Thanks once again

Hey everyone im also dealing with the same situation. Im also trying to identify a 5spd in order to do the rebuild. So far i got thats an L series. And i believe that the speedo is at a 6oclock. ive also tried looking for information with these numbers that i found on the transmission but no luck . #3 , 15, @47, 7422286 and 41110 . thanks again ratsun

im having somewhat of the same problem. i willl start from the beginning. one morning on the way to work , which i had to call in late. my stock l16 would just stutter and turn off when when i would try to accelarate. i found out the choke coil was no longer in place. not knowing anything about carbs, i was helpless. from the heavens came a stranger, a random datsun 510 enthusiast named TONY, later telling me he use to race 510s in his high school days. anyways so after putting it back and some adjustments to the carb, the 510 was running good again. it was brought to my attention that i needed a new carb gasket. after changing it, and putting the carb back on in the comfort of my own home. which i thought would be nothing difficult and smooth transition turned out to be the complete opposite. with just the carb on, my car wont stay on in idle. this hissing noise comes out from the carb when i accelarate , and also seconds before it turns off. it only stay on if i have it connected with the air filter but it stumbles. when i disconnect the hoses it turns off once again . any input on this situation would be greatful.

. today i was just randomly looking for 510s, when i suddenly came across this transmission shop, it had around 4 or 5 , 510s ... 2 being wagons. this made my day. im so going back to ask for some prices and hopefully he is willing to part with one.

i believe im having electrical wiring problems, whyyy?? i thought it was a just a dead battery due to it not being in use lately, or a switch was left on.. i call on the datsun gods to help me out ahahaha.

whistling sound coming from the back of my 510, its not constant. only when i accelerate. any input fellow ratsuners.

mine makes a cool sound from the back when hard accelerating. It sounds like air being pulled into the gas tank.

bonvo . whats is under load ?? idk about cool sound, it annoys me , like that screeching sounds when someone needs new brake pads. laecon how would air be pulled into the gas tank . thanks guys for your input.

ive been seeing this flat black 510 near my school in torrance, parked . wish i could meet the guy just so i could ask him if could park my 510 alongside his while in school. so i wont be constantly worrying for my 510 in the school parking lot. i need to start going to some datsun meets.
