  1. Its rippin around Colorado Springs. Hopefully have it at some local track events this summer. Come say hi!
  2. I believe they are old 80s Recaro LXs. I need to get them rebuilt. They are one of my favorite pieces on the car.
  3. I'm not following. I'm so glad I was able to. It was hit or mi there for awhile!
  4. OH HEY!!!! IM BRINGING THIS BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!! Realm link : http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11566 Its almost road worthy again after a VERY long 10+ years of being on the back, way back, burner. I was doing a bunch of work to it when I was still in Illinois about 6-7 years ago and hit a few walls. I moved to Colorado shortly after that and it went into hibernation (indoors when I left). Cats were living in it, and the weather was doing its thing until about a year and a half ago when my brother brought it out to me. Since then its been in my garage slowly getting taken apart and put back together after being totally apart for so long. It is so close to being back on the road again! Ill try to update this with more pictures along the way and I have a few to add from the past 10+ years haha. Current State: Where is was for too long: [/ur
  5. Thanks guys. As for moving it, I'm totally fine with that. I also believe it would get more attention there. I just didn't know if I do that or you do haha. As for help, I am now looking for 1 hub axle and 2 replacement nuts for them. Can you run a different replacement nut on them or do they have to be those weird crush nuts? Other than that I think I have all the parts needed too get it up and rolling. I'm not going to do all the extra stuff like painting and body work. Just slapping it back together mechanically and selling it. It will be sad but I know if I want another someday I'll know where to start searching :-)
  6. You can move it where ever you want to. I am just looking for as much advice on value I can get. This is the only 510 I've ever owned too.
  7. I actually only need one hub and 2 nuts to go on them. I'll be looking around.
  8. i said to hell with the cosmetic stuff and started re assembling it today. Rear brake brackets, rear coilovers, rear crossmember, Rear Control arms, rear diff and drive shaft are installed and connected. Basically all i need to do it get my issue with the axles figured out and the rear will be back together. I'm ordering those front shocks in the link tonight and i think for minimal money i will have this thing back on its wheels shortly. that should take care of all the major projects and leave all the nickle and dime crap. My plan is still to sell it but i'm shooting for a fully streetable project car now.
  9. perfect. i put it in here hoping it was in the right place. it will stay discussion only until i come up with a price and my 2 friends decide if they want it or not. if they don't, it will be added to the classified ads like you mentioned.
  10. thanks for your input. this is exactly what im looking for from you guys. obviously to me its priceless but i know that im not going to get near what i have into it. which is why im asking your non-bias opinions haha. THANKS!!
  11. 1972 Datsun 510 4dr 5spd SOHC KA24E Long story short I had a friend bring this car from Oregon state to North Dakota back in 2008. He sold it to a guy who blew up the original KA. I found it for sale online one day and bought it the next day. This is how I found the car when I went to go pick it up. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/5107_1193735362776_1653183_n_zpswimrajvc.jpg Got it to the shop and started getting the bad KA out and putting another one in. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/5107_1193736082794_934871_n_zps15srs1vu.jpg Got that all done and I ran it like this for awhile. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/0227091914_zpsgj37u0qm.jpg Then I managed to hydro lock that engine after a couple years. So i began stripping the car down while i waited to come across another good KA. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/36417_1519129057415_2532292_n_zpstxbktxcx.jpg http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_20110601_144816_zpssfy1rqaz.jpg I put down some spray on bed liner for the floor after taking out all the old rotted stuff. I then did some other random odds and ends like: Custom seat rail sliders http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_20110405_234630_zpsoc4pnpeq.jpg http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/194425_2006014269241_7493076_o_zpshxxf5mxf.jpg The spare well was rusty and had a few minor holes so i cut it out and added some steel in its place. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2542_zps9bel0zqd.jpg Dyed the Rear seats black. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_20120423_171552_zpsjnywq2mt.jpg Made My own LED tails. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2536_zpsgmonp0ng.jpg I made some interior door panels. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2552_zpscvngvlo9.jpg Then I found a fresh KA and trans from a 240. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2573_zpseu0wd3n2.jpg I installed a CAN/AM POWER PRODUCTS easy wiring box http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2560_zpsnitq2zoj.jpg And re-did the exhaust a bit. 3inch SS off the header and collector. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_20120504_172421_zpspz40cwji.jpg And it Runs again!!!!! First time in 5 years!!! (video) http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/th_VID_20120502_113147_zpsrocetq7d.mp4 So I was almost finished with it all I had to do was some finishing touches and I would be able to get it back on the road. Then one day I went to go move it around the shop a bit and the rear drums had seized up on me. It wouldn't even budge. That is when decided to do a rear disc conversion. Upgraded to the Futofab Adjustable Lower Control Arms and Datsun 510 Rear Camber / Toe Adjusters. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/20130419_212822_zpshu6k2yry.jpg http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2548_zpsdzjwla3v.jpg Upgraded the rear suspension some more with REAR COILOVER CONVERSION FOR DATSUN 510 from TechnoToyTuning. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2603_zps1ndjjdmi.jpg It already had 280 big brakes, coilovers and TIEN camber plates on the front so I just media blast those till powder coating could get done. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2558_zpsgdyilqt6.jpg I hit my major hang up and ultimately it lead to where im at now posting this thread.... while removing the rear axles I was not aware of the locking nut on there and the last 1/2in of threads got destroyed. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2556_zpsxjj6ozgv.jpg I had a few ideas to try and fix it but it never came to be. P soon ran into issues with not being able to find any replacement parts and if I have the whole rear end out I might as well clean up the underside of my car while I was at it but by this time my funds were dwindling pretty fast at this stage in my life. So everything came to a screeching hault. I managed to go and work on it a few times since but just never really got that itch, or it was always over shadowed by bills or lack of time. This is how the car is sitting right now as i type this. http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af111/72DAT510/510/IMG_2544_zpssxyicwed.jpg List of things it needs to be back on the road. New front shocks New Rear axles w/ locking nut install rear brake conversion front and rear suspension installed glass installed and the hood/trunk/door need to be put on I'm sure there are other minor things to be done that i'm forgetting about.
  12. does anyone have a pair of the lock nuts that hold the rear axles in? i have found a pair on ebay but they are $25. is that reasonable? do i even need to use those locking nuts or can i get a standard flange nut and use that?
  13. guys, seriously I have my setup. this is probably turned into a suspension topic but instead of making a new thread I figured I would just keep it in here. all I'm asking is, when u search Google why do the pictured shocks come up and not the ones I need. I'm just looking for a place to get the bz3038's that I need. that's it. I have my brakes and coil overs all I need is the front inserts.
  14. i pulled my old shock inserts out of the front the other day and i had the BZ3038's in there. i would like to go with them again but all the ones im finding are not a insert. they look like a normal gas shock that doesn't go in a tube,,,,,,, is it something i specify when i order the part or what? i need help getting a set of these ordered..... This is what i find and dont need......
