  1. SOLD The guy I sold her to did another carb rebuild and replaced the fuel pump assembly, now it runs fine. Ain't that a kick in the nuts. Anyway, thanks to you all for the help you provided! This profile will be deleted soon.
  2. FADKL;JKF;LKDAS;KFSDAJ'LKL;JFOVU EOUFOP!!!! so I put a fpr on there, and the fuel overflow problem seems resolved...I do however still have the high idle...it was all the way u p to 4k today. My wife would kind of like me to fix the truck just so we have a truck to haul stuff, rather than an SUV...so I guess I can't part it out just yet. I covered the intake with my hand to try to kill the engine, and it simply wouldn't die...It was putting out a very large quantity of white smoke when it was idling high, and the smoke cut down when the intake was covered...But idk if white smoke means anything in connection to the high idle. What is the possibility that the carb is just shot? Does anyone have a functioning carb they removed and replaced with a webber or something? I'd really like to try a stock carb against my stocker just to see if that helps
  3. Ok, folks, it looks like Sheila is going to be scrapped. Any parts desired? It does have an original Nissan rubber bed mat, if anyone wants that. I thought I'd give you guys the opportunity before that steel recycler. I'd sell the whole truck for $350 cash if anyone is willing to come get it.
  4. What about an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to drop the fuel pressure down some? Set it to 3.6psi as the manual suggests the pressure should be and see what happens. Yea or nay?
  5. Stock replacement available from autozone/rockauto.com and the like. I believe its a Duralast replacement.
  6. How do I go about checking/repairing said potential issue? *heads to search bar* I searched and didn't come up with anything useful, I also checked my chilton manual and it doesn't mention it either. Sorry about this, I feel like checking the seat is a simple process I should know how to do, I've just never worked with carbs before this truck. Also, the needle itself is new, came with the carb rebuild kit I threw in the carb a few months back (hasn't been running much at all since then) but it didn't correct the problem.
  7. Totally late, as its been hectic around here, but today I checked that return line...idk how much is supposed to flow through the return, but it does flow fuel...however, the flow into the bowl still refuses to stop, even if I have the return line open to the air at the first hard line...perhaps the needle seat is bad and allows fuel to get past the needle into the bowl...or maybe there's a clog right in that first hard line right off the carb. So, knowing that fuel flows freely from that hardline all the way back to the tank and that the supply side is over pressurized, does anyone have any ideas?
  8. I'm thinking there is a fuel return issue at this point. no matter how the float is adjusted, fuel just keeps filling the bowl. I think the fuel return is blocked or clogged or something. If that all turns out to be fine, I guess its back to the other possible issues. I just don't understand why I can't get the fuel level to set if that's not the case. Thanks for the tips! Those all need checked anyway.
  9. I want a Nissan diesel too. You west coast guys always get the best stuff! That engine looks very nice in your truck. Good luck with your research!
  10. Late is better than not at all. Thank you very much! I will have to check into that. My alt keeps going out, or at least the voltage regulator keeps going out. I'm guessing a fusible link is dead somewhere, but idk where they are located, or even if there are replacements available.
  11. I still havent gotten it to idle correctly. Not even close. I did check the screws on the top, they are all tight. I adjusted the fuel float, but that didn't help the fuel level any, so now I need to attempt to unclog the return fuel line. Could my whole issue really be as simple as excess fuel flow to the carb? That seems like a reasonable cause, as it seems that each time I pull the carb, there is a puddle of fuel sitting under it in the intake. What's the best way to unclog that return, though? Plug the line at the carb after the return, or use compressed air at that point? or is there a better way?
  12. Anyone who has seen my posts knows that my carb is screwing me around...I thought I had finally found the real reason for my high idle. I thought there was just too much air getting into my engine. Well, I sealed the base, I checked vacuum lines the best I know how, and I fixed the throttle plate on my secondary which used to stay cracked open slightly because I misaligned it when I did the rebuild. I even checked the anti idle solenoid. The only thing I can think of that is left is to put a jumper across the throttle switch to make sure the circuit is working, as the plug is messed up and doesnt allow the pin for the switch to make contact inside the connector. I do know that my fuel is flowing just too high. No matter how I set the float, it just keeps pumping into the bowl. I think the newer pumps are too high pressure or something. Its had these issues before the rebuild. I kinda thought rebuilding would fix some of the problems. Is there something simple I'm overlooking or maybe I'm just over thinking this? I need my truck back. Please help Thanks, Brandon
  13. Are there specs anywhere for that particular item? Id like to build one, with a spare tire/ gas can mount on the back and maybe 4 lights on the top
