  1. So 3 years later this is still a thing. a very rusty neglected defected thing but a thing none the less. Hasn't seen the road since it was defected around christmas 2012 (except maybe once for a sneaky late night skid) Rust has pretty much consumed the old girl now, B pillars are completely fucked, Sill panels are basically non existant. pretty much everything I touched is fucked (passion fingers syndrome). Most sensible folk would have scrapped it, Im not most sensible folk. Sill panels arrived a few weeks back $150 for the pair, as did my mig welder. Today I ordered 2 new doors for the princely sum of $150 aud each and a new front apron for $45. They were out of stock on front fenders or I'd have 2 of those coming too. B pillars, windscreen and a few other odds and ends will be removed from a donor vehicle I found abandoned in the scrub about 20 minute drive from home (i never did collect that other one from the middle of the island) The mighty J15 has been removed in favour of a commodore 3.8l V6 (basically a rwd version of your buick v6) and a t700 which have yet to be fitted. I'm also planning to turbo it once its fitted and running reliably. The KI motor club holds an annual sprint race which is basically a quarter mile marked out on a closed road with timing gear. hoping to chop a few slack jawed yokels in there v8 commodores and shit, also planning to enter a few khanacross events too. I'll endevour to post a semi-comprehensive build thread as I crack on with it as it may be of some interest to you guys as you also have deriviants of the same gm V6 on your side of the pond. And on another note, whilst visiting a property scouting out busted arse datsuns, I stumbled across a not quite barn-find 520! Very much saveable condition, was running when it was parked up. The owner said he will part with it, I just need to butter him up before I make my insultingly low offer. The plan is to just preserve this one and take it for grandpa-spec sunday drives to the pub for lunch. Will post photos when I go and take some.
  2. Feast your eyes upon my latest distraction from the 620. 92 NH Pajero GLS. electric everything and it all works. 3.0 V6 auto, 4 new tyres, overall its pretty damn tidy. Already started ramming it full of stereo. oh and it cost me $200 with a radiator full of oil Plans are : fix it for the lady boss because im gonna be a dad :) and the little 310 wont cut it as a baby hauler. Big things happening on the job front so there will be action in my 620 thread real soon. Cheers. Benny
  3. I know its blasphemy to drop the T-bomb on this forum so please ratsun gods, don't smite me down. I'm wondering if anyone knows do the 4.2 turbo diesel (1HD motor) and 4.0 diesel (2H motor) share the same gearbox? Thanks. Ben
  4. that is porn. loving the rims bloke.
  5. Yeah its still a work in progress, i just like the concept of building what you want from the ground up. if it ever does get finished it could be pretty cool, the business side of it would be the least interesting aspect for me
  6. Dang it, wont run on this shitty computer. still interested to see what others think of it tho
  7. Any of you guys seen this? http://automationgame.com/ looks like it should be pretty cool. i'm downloadint the demo at the moment but with no system requirements published i'm unsure if it will run on my old craptop. If it works i'll give you my verdict on it. meanwhile, someone with a newer pc and a decent net connection have at it and let me know what its like.
  8. confidence inspiring.... and there isn't a windscreen mob on ki either.. oh well, sink or swim i guess. The thing is, it costs $90 each way to take a car to and from the mainland, hence why i need to source what i can locally and do whatever i can myself. Guess i'll just watch a heap of how to videos on youtube, cross my fingers and hope for the best. i'll start scouting round for a windscreen rubber.
  9. I love it. FJ will haull ass in this.
  10. just line it with plastic and use it as a spa :) nice truck. love me a longbed.
  11. Any idea how hard it is to change the windscreen over? and if i boot out the busted one in mine can i re-use the seal when i drop the new window in as i wont need to cut it up? This little score is just the bit of encouragement i needed, poor things been sitting in front yard collecting water since the 310 came back to life. I'm hoping for at least a drivers door and fender, front apron would be nice but thats probly wishful thinking. basically everything that is better than mine will be swapped out, and anything I'm likely to need later on down the track such as :motor, gearbox, diff, front suspension parts etc. will be stored away under the house, the chassis and cab and whatever else is left will be scrapped. its kind of a sad thought that i'll be parting out the only other 620 i've ever come across but its for a good cause.
  12. After months of thinking how much its going to cost me to find a windscreen and assorted other parts for it, I began to wonder if i'd even be able to find one at all. These cars aren't too common anymore, most have been scrapped now. I have come across 3 complete cars for sale since i bought mine, all way out of my budget and all on the mainland. On sunday i put an ad on the island swap and sell facebook page, "looking for any old dattos, utes in particular, whats laying around in your paddock or in your shed?" Tonight i got a reply from a woman I've previously purchased a welder from "Neville has a 1500 ute" made a phonecall. It's complete, runs, it has a windscreen!!! and all his kids learned to drive in it. Its mine for $200 whenever i come collect it. I'M STILL GRINNING!!
  13. My little fur buddy 'Tommy the tit' loved going for rides in the car with me, he would also climb in there and sleep all day. I'd only had him 6 months but he had become a big part of my life, unknown breed and abandoned by a previous owner he found his way into our lives and made us so happy. I'd take him to work sometimes, he would sleep at my feet or in my chair, only stirring to greet the occasional customer, he was quite the popular little bloke around town, everybody knew him from his frequent outings around town (whenever i'd turn my back) My bulldog Petey adored him, they were inseparable, playing all day and climbing all over me whenever we'd jump in the ute and go for a cruise and going into hyperdrive whenever they heard me pull into the driveway He started having seizures in the early hours of the morning, I'm pretty sure he found some of my partners medication. the vet is 60km away. He held on as long as he could but passed away snuggled up with us in bed This morning i wrapped him up, put him in the 310 and took somewhere nice. He's off doing what he loves most now, chasing wallabies and pissing on datsun tyres in the sky.
