  1. Thanks for all the good info. I was not able to get into the show as registration appears to be sold out. I still plan on going for a few hours tomorrow and check things out
  2. I just had it detailed today and they think it's original paint.
  3. Good catch on my 5 cylinder. All fixed now. I really think it is a 1970 by all the records I have. This is the cleanest 521 I've ever seen not that there aren't nicer ones somewhere. I had one when I was a kid ( 52 now) and my fun was in trying to make it perfect. Now that everything is working and I've chased down the tib bits like that $$$$ heater knob my fun has come to an end. I may take it to the big Import car show in Long Beach this weekend. I hear that's a big turn out.
  4. I am selling my 1970 Datsun 521. The truck is very clean and original and very little rust. It was sold new in Fresno Ca and still has the license plate frame from that dealer. I think the spare tire may be the original. It is the old SAE origianal size. I have gone through the truck from one end to the other and to the best of my knowledge everything works from the headlight squirters to the back up lights. Here is a list of just some of the items I've addressed. New front drums ( rears turned) new wheel cylinders all 4 corners new shoes all 4 corners new brake master new tires new battery cables new filters new brake lines new clutch line rebuilt speedometer new voltage regulator new shocks new fuel lines compression is 105,110,110,110 $5k 714-632-9288

    price on a nice 521

Perfect timing for me as I am considering selling my 1970 521 that is very nice and very original. I will list it here and put it on Ebay as well. Just listed it here http://community.ratsun.net/topic/47035-1970-datsun-521-very-original-very-nice-anaheim-ca/
  6. I may sell mine but it is a very nice original truck. If you are looking for a cheap one this is not it.

    rear bumpers

Has anyone bought the aftermarket rear bumpers from Design guu? http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-520-521-620-UTE-510-320-720-Rear-Bumper-Steel-/261002056091?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc4ef519b&vxp=mtr I bought a pair and recived them a few days ago but I am very unhappy with the quality. I've asked them to replace them with better pieces or refund my money. I'll post what happens.
  9. I used 3/16 on mine. Now all I need is the nozzles that screw into the hood fixture.

    Brake bleeding

Ok I finally had some time to work on my 521 and it appears that the problem was that the shoes were just too far away. As soon as I adjusted them I had a normal pedal. I guess I'm learning more about drum brakes all the time. Thanks for all the help.

    Brake bleeding

So I just replaced all the wheel cylinders and brake lines but for some strange reason I cannot get all the air out. I'm assuming it's air as the first pedal always goes to the floor but with 2 strokes the pedal is nice and hard and stays that way if I hold pressure on it. I've tried vacuum bleeding as well and no change. I've looked for any possible leaks and see nothing. When I manually bleed each wheel I do not get any air bubbles. What am I missing? BTW I used Centrix wheel cylinders which ran me $70 for all 4.
