  1. Has anyone ever seen or heard of a cold air style intake for vg30s with tbi? Otherwise I'm gonna have to get to fabing something up.
  2. Because when the wheel came off I lost about a 1/4 of the backing plate to the highway. Including most of my brake hardware one of my shoes and obviously the drum
  3. Ok that sounds do-able i was mostly asking about the stuff I couldnt see because I couldn't figure out how the axle shaft was held in lol. However I have an 86.5 but what's weird is that the axle is mounted under the leafs already and it does not look like anything has been modified at all... Is that stock for the 4x4s?
  4. I need to get the axle shaft out. Do I have to in bolt the backing plate for that?
  5. So bought a hardbody last night and one of the rear wheels came off on the highway... How do I get the axle out of the rear end? Also what are the specs(thread pitch and all) on my lugs and studs so I can get new ones. Would like to get a set of the fancy "tuner" lugs if possible Please lmk any help is greatly appreciated
  6. ok i knew thats what the system did but i didnt understand the importance of it i guess what about the filter on the valve cover does that not void the systems ability to function? oh and another thing really off topic does the zx multi switch (wipers, lights, signals) fit on the z cars cause the z car ones are all backwards and weird. also mine is fuel injected and im having trouble figuring out the vacuum routing is it basically the same and which items are "non-removable" or would have negative effects on the way the car runs

  8. thanks mike is there a pcv bypass i can do im in the process of trying to eliminate emissions components and although im still learning about the vacuum routing and stuff was wondering if i could clamp that off or freeze plug it or something
  9. okie dokie so i got a 77 280z about a week ago and im having a bunch of issues one of which i think i fixed(for now) which was the brand new starter burned out so i replaced it and no problems yet(yet...) also, the problem at hand, is that its using about a quart of oil + or - per DAY :disgust: FML. there appears to be a puddle on the block below the header but cant see source. also when i crank the car up the oil pressure gauge goes up to a normal spot and then slowly creeps back down(below the 0 mark) until it looks like its not working at all which it may not be. Its not burning an excesive amount of oil or at least its not pouring blue smoke so i dont think its burning the whole quart but i just dont know what it could be. it runs great i get good power so im assuming that my head gasket and pistons are all intact and due to the lack of blue smoke i believe that my rings are in ok shape. The guy i got it from says that he replaced the valve seals recently too which i believe because everything he has told me so far has been true as far as replaced parts and present issues. with the exception of this one. so if you have any ideas or suggestions ill give them a shot and try to document what ive done

Well guys I wish I had more pictures to show but since my last post I had painted the fenders and valance removed front bumper and made signal lights made a short shifter(actual one not just a cut-off) got new wheels and had it running really well. On march 26 I got a Honda accord to daily so I could pull my motor and build it, finish painting and body work, and finish suspension work. I now deliver pizzas for papa johns and was tired of driving the accord so I switched back to the Datsun for a delivery and it never made it back to the store. I was driving as normal when the car in front of me changed lanes and revealed another car which was on the wrong side of the road and headed straight for me. I was doing about 50mph and could not get out of the way in time. So the story of my 82 ends here I'll update pics later but I am already in the process of finding another 720 to transfer parts from the 82 into so that I can complete my in finnished business.

    Ok so new plugs new wires more sea foam a weber 38 and it runs the same but a little more power wtf? It idles around 2k-3k and anywhere inbetween(no pattern very random) first and second gear have great power but when I give it gas going into third gear it starts to sputter out. Oh and is there any special trick to timing without a light?

    ok well im glad i asked then that saves me a bunch of money and no i dont have a way to do a compression check at the moment not unless there is a home way to do it. also i know blue smoke is oil and white is gas/coolant but what causes black smoke just carbon?

    Ok so the head won't do anything for me? Even with bigger ports cam and valve job? And I replaced my accelerator pump which helped a little and my carb was leaned out a bunch so I cited that too. Also would the jets from the z24 carb give me a little power especially if they are really clean?

    i know i have to downshift im newish to datsuns not driving...and trust me i KNOW its not a 350 that was my first vehicle all im sayin is that my 22r 2.4l yota used to book it up hills without any problems at all and im just trying to get the datsun a little bit above that power level

    ok well the z24 is what im planning to use for my lz24 build so im not planning on having it running for a while but the z22 i have runs ok right now its just REALLY low on power which is why im trying to do this head swap. and idk if the head is the answer but i cant keep up 70 mph in 5th gear i have to be at 75 or higher to hold speed in 5th when im going up semi steep hills i have to shift into the high end(3800-4500rpm) of 2nd or 3rd to even make it up the hill and usually if im in 4th before the hill i end up in 2nd by the top . i will try and get a video on my phone today if it helps and you can hear the truck bogging down and im basically foot to the floor.
