  1. Hey blackdeth666 I noticed the old post from the classified section, do you still have the 4.11 rears you were trying to swap? Ive got some roadster 3.70's and at least one 3.90 Id trade one of them for a good 4.11 R&P
  2. My original paint 68 roadster still has the Del Franke Datsun sticker on it. I know he did plate frames too, if anybody happened to have one id be intrested oh and nice collection, i used to save that kind of stuff but after awhile you just get buryed in "stuff"
  3. Well the guy is obviously trying to get most of his money back, which almost NEVER happens on a car project!! I would like a big ass wing on my car if I was trying to stuff a shoe box with wheels to 2 Bills, But that one LOOKS like an off the shelf generic one and is mounted too low and close to the deck to be terribly effective, On that alone I would start to question the engineering. But a partial car, unfinished, with no drive train, he'd be better off to sell off the parts.
  4. Hillclimbing is NOT a beginner sport!! Many dont know but we have a complete hill climb series right here in the NW. Northwest Hillclimb Association, check it out and come watch some races Live instead of youtube.
  5. 6. No you dont have to be in a club, you can run the event as an individual, but DatsunsNW has a team registered, and they would be HAPPY to have you join them (they are a little short handed) it is a team competition. for the overall awards you need to be on a team, but to just run the events you will be scored as an individual if your not on a team. To join datsuns NW team all you have to do is sign up on motorsportsreg.com and when registering for the event select the Datsuns NW team number (team number 7), and put Datsuns NW in your sponsor line info, along with any regular sponsor names you might have. http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm/event/event.advert/uidEvent/D0F67709-02DC-CE73-FC0ACB6B844C6385 Is the registration link, and you must register with motorsportsreg.com (FREE) which will give you direct accsess to all the motorsportsreg club events nationwide, its a great system I think in a couple years almost everyone putting on events will be using it. They dont spam you, and they dont send out stuff for events you have not signed up for.
  7. OK PACKWOOD camping, for those of you who wish to partake of the party! Trying a new place this year, MUCH CLOSER to the track, and very accomidating to the party. Walking distance to the fire department and the track, down side is you have to go offsite for the showers, but he is making arrangements for us. less expensive than the other place too. There are county wide fire restricitions, so if you want a fire you need to bring a state approved fire pit (one with a screen) and let him kbnow when making your reservation that you are bringing one. He will be grouping you by club, so let him know when you register what club your running with. and definately let him know your coming for the smackdown so you get the discount 1896 Homestead PAckwood WA http://packwoodonline.com/index.php?&MMN_position=1:1 360-494-0808 his name is JIM

  10. Registration is now open!! prices are on motorsportsreg.com basically 85 bucks for all 3 days, plus saturday night dinner, 70 for 2 events plus dinner 35 for one event, no dinner, and you cannot score points for a team if you only run one event. But you can score bonus points This is BY FAR the best and wildest 3 day car event in the NorthWest!! last year near 300 cars total, over 150 in the autocross alone drift drag autocross for 3 days, with a catered dinner, and WILD party saturday night. nore details at www.nwautox.org, or just do an internet search for NWAA SMACKDOWN, youll get LOTS of hits, tons of stuff on youtube as well. Datsuns NW(Canby guys) already have 6-7 cars signed up!! Ratsun members are welcome. they have an email link on their page. September 17-18-19 Packwood WA Registration cuts off September 1st, team captains meeting to distribute entry packs and answer last min questions is Saturday Sept 11th at the Pied Piper Pizza in Vancouver WA. 2010 SMACKDOWN Rules Remember this is supposed to be in fun. All participants must be regular members of their respective clubs, this will be on the honor system it’s your Rep. at stake.. All participants must be over 18, or have a minor waiver signed by a legal guardian, It must be notarized, or that guardian must come to the event to sign the minor waiver. Drivers MUST be 16 or older and have a valid state driver’s license. To keep the event manageable from a scoring standpoint, we will be asking competing clubs to volunteer to assist with managing and scoring events, each selected club will be responsible for computing scores and managing one portion of the event, under the watchful eye of NWAA. For example: TSDNW the drag CARFREEKS the drift etc. In order to keep confusion to a minimum EACH club will have to select in advance someone to act as a team captain, this person will keep track of team members, Entry fees this year will be by pre registration ONLY!! using the Motor sports Reg web site. Team captains should have a record of team members also, they may keep track via that web site. All teams will have 3 digit numbers; the first digit will indicate the team you are running for 1 for NWAA, 2 for Carfreeks etc. Numbers must be displayed on both sides of the car. On dual driver cars, only ONE number may be visible at a time. (No slash) Numbers must be at least 8 inches tall. We will providing number plates for competitors, or they may use their own numbers provided they meet the minimum size. All teams will compete directly with each other. EACH INDIVIDUAL WILL BE REQUIRED TO FILL OUT A REGISTRATION AND TECH FORM FOR HIS OR HER CAR. Your team captain, or a designated alternate, is the ONLY person on your team allowed to speak for, or negotiate for your team. Teams will consist of at a minimum 4 drivers and 2 cars. There is no maximum, however there is a maximum bonus points Participants designate their team at time of registration, they may change teams ONLY if that team fails to get their act together to show up, this needs to be completed and decided by close of registration. Either they are on your list or they are not team members. You may compete in any or all of the events as an individual, “not on a team” you will be scored in the overall results, but ignored when computing team points. All additional club members whether support or spectators, need to identify the team they are with @ sign in. Clubs, via the team captain, are responsible for the conduct of ALL club members at the site, and coming and going to the site. This needs to stay a safe fun and legal event; we need to make sure we conduct ourselves this way Team size: There is no limit to team size, unlike in past years, fastest 4 (3 men one woman)WIN!! However, to qualify and score points for your team you are REQUIRED to run at least 2 of the 3 challenge events. In the event of a car failure, or emergency preventing you from completing your events, the next fastest QUALIFIED team member will be scored. If you cant find at least one woman to run for your team,,,, guess you only get scored for 3. Remember there are bonus points for participation! There will be an upper limit on bonus points For the Autocross ONLY, Cars that would normally run in a race tire class, but compete on street tires (tread wear rating 140 or higher) will be assessed a 1 second adjustment, to make times competitive with their race tired competitors. You NEED to make note of this on your autocross registration form, If you don't tell us you will be scored normally. If the event is run under wet conditions (rain) this adjustment no longer applies No more than 2 drivers per car PERIOD in any event. Local law enforcement will be appraised of our routes and schedules. Deliberated disregard for highway laws at ANY time during the weekend may be grounds for a team’s disqualification, this applies to ALL club members, racing or not, no 130MPH blasts down the highway. This could result in the loss of the event site, and NO ONE wants that. Cars must meet SCCA/NASA accepted safety standards AT ALL TIMES!! Just because the tech inspectors might, miss something does NOT make that car OK, if the starter notices missing lug nuts, BANG back to tech inspection to correct it. This applies to all safety items and is EVERY competitors responsibility, its just plain stupid to do it any other way. In this section I am adding NO TEMPORARY SPARE TIRES are allowed. Several FWD competitors tried to run donuts on the rear at drags last year. This is NOT safe, and is SPECIFICALLY disallowed by SCCA and NASA rules under which our insurance is issued. Acceleration test (Drag) Drag will NOT be side by side, only one car at a time straight line. The course will be long enough to be interesting but short enough to stay within our insurance rules and safety considerations (1/8 mile is planned). Straight ET wins, no brackets or classes. There will be a left and right course, competitors must stay in the lane they are assigned Car restrictions: Modifications and performance upgrades are un-restricted, but must pass safety inspection so nitrous is OK (FOR THE DRAG ONLY) but you will find the site is traction limited, TOO MUCH horsepower may not help. All members who pay and enter are eligible to run the drag. Each member should get at least 3 Passes, more if time permits, only the fastest one counts. If time prevents all members from getting an equal number of runs, the last COMPLETE set of runs will be the last scored. This does not count DNF or DNS. (If most teams get 3 runs but a couple get 4 before we run out of time, only the first 3 will be scored.) Drifting: This is the only event in which you MUST designate a points scoring team. This is to allow for the 2 course format. Once registration closes Team captains will designate 5 team members to run the “points” course, the best 4 will be scored, the 5th will be counted as bonus points. If there is a situation preventing one of the other 4 from finishing #5’ score will take their place NITROUS MUST BE REMOVED or CONFIRMED DISCONNECTED prior to competing. All cars must pass tech. Any car equipped with No2 must declare that at tech inspection, so we can confirm it is disconnected for drift and AX, failure to do so will result in DQ and loss of all points by that car Points will be scored in accordance with currently accepted judging policies, Judging will be by a 3 judge team. There will be 2 courses, one for the points scoring team, and one for the bonus point team, to maximize the experienced drifters on-course time. Non points scoring members will be judged by one volunteer judge, scores will not be recorded, BUT participation bonus points will be computed. WE WANT EVERYONE TO RACE!! Autocross: Cars will be assigned to their respective SCCA SOLO 2 classes. It is the competitors responsibility to properly class his or her car, this must be done when registering. This is important so we can complete run groups, and score correctly, cars miss classed will suffer one of two fates, if it was an honest rookie novice mistake, you will be scored as A mod, effectively ending your scoring hopes for the weekend, however if it is an experienced competitor and officials feel that it was deliberately miss classed to attempt to gain a performance advantage, the car and driver(s) will be disqualified. Points will be awarded based on the clubs relative finishing positioning against the published PAX index. What this means is your time will be indexed to its PAX time, then finish positions will be awarded based on that time. For the Autocross ONLY Cars that would normally run in a race tire class, but compete on street tires (tread wear rating 140 or higher) will be assessed a 1 second adjustment, to make times competitive with their race tired competitors. ABSOLUTELY NO DUAL DRIVER CARS IN GRID. SHARED CARS WILL BE SPLIT INTO RUN GROUPS A OR B DRIVER ONE IN GROUP A, TWO IN GROUP B. The dual driver cars cause too much extra confusion in scoring. IF you have someone you just HAVE to ride with, please list them as dual driver, so we can group you accordingly. If we are not told about it at registration you are out of luck. For drift and drag driver A will run all his runs, then driver B will make his, no jumping back and forth. AGAIN Dual driver cars MUST be designated in advance. You must do this AT registration time so we can get run groups done in advance. Car substitutions are allowed, AT OUR DISCRETION in the event of a failure, but the substituted or borrowed car must be of an equal or lower class than your own, and will be scored in your ORIGINAL class. Borrowed cars MUST have been etched and approved for the event in advance. And borrowing the car CANNOT put it above the 2 driver limit. Classing and PAX index for 2010 can be found @ the San Francisco region SCCA website. Competitors will be expected to know their cars appropriate class based on its modifications. Scoring: Teams request that all 3 events be equal so they will be, and cost the same too 64 =1st 62 = 2nd 60 = 3rd 58 = 4th 56 = 5th 54 = 6th 52 = 7th 50 = 8th 48 = 9th 46 = 10th 44 = 11th 42 = 12th 40 = 13th 38 = 14th 36 = 15th 34= 16th 32=17th 30= 18th 28 = 19th 26 = 20th 24 = 21st 22 = 22nd 20 = 23rd 19 = 24th 18= 25th 17= 26th 16 = 27th 15 = 28th 14 = 29th 13 = 30th 12 = 31st 11 = 32nd 10 = 33rd 9 = 34th 8 = 35th 7 = 36th 6 = 37th 5 = 38th 4 = 39th 3 = 40th 2 = 41st one point for each team member 42nd and below Unlike past years the autocross will be held Saturday, Drift and drag Sunday, with drag LAST so that team scoring and points can be computed, and results known before you go home! Bonus Points We want to encourage participation, so here is the deal. Each team will be awarded 1/2 additional point for each extra member who enters each event, up to 12 additional cars/drivers (not counting your 4 points scoring team members). And an additional ½ point for each of the above who are female. What’s this mean? Well if you show up and enter 10 extra cars, 5 points will be added to your score up front regardless of finish position. Additionally ½ of 1 point will be added for EACH FEMALE driver in your group. If your team shows with 6 female racers, you would get 6 additional points. (1/2 for participation+1/2 for female!!) Finally Protests; This event is for FUN!! It’s not the SCCA nationals and does not pretend to be. HOWEVER if a club feels the need to protest another competitors car, ALL PROTESTS MUST BE FILED BEFORE THE GROUP WHILE STRUMMING A UKELELI AND WEARING A SOMBRERO AND GRASS SKIRT!! It will be impossible to get too mad and ruin the mood of the event while laughing!! Awards will go to the fastest raw time team (top gun), and the team participants would most like to party with (judged by team captains), But the champion will be fastest PAX time team based on their 3 total scores. As in past years, we will hold all "official question/ans sessions on the carfreeks.net smackdown page, too keep forum jumping to a minimum
  11. Good Luck Like to see it when its done, well see how it runs against my old school 2L
  12. Well youd have to run the short emmissions advance curve on the distributer, with no vacume advance, so itll fall on its face out of the hole, otherwise youll blow head gaskets, and if you build an airbox for the SU's what are you going to do with the steering shaft, which runs right through there, barley any clearance as is, time you build a big old sealed airbox around there you wont have any. not to mention trying to re tune the damn carbs, which wont like the whole thing at all. not to rain on your parade, but unless you own the turbo already. and a machine shop fabrication shop the exhaust work alone will cost more than 300 buck to do right.
  13. So I gather from your post your planning on boosting an r16, so you cant run much boost anyway on an otherwise stock motor (stock compression is to high). But longer tubes DO increase lag, exhaust gases cool lowering their equivalent volume, plus parasitic loss due to the long tubes. Small turbo and low boost will decrease this effect allot (smaller spool revs up quicker and your asking it to do less). But you also get less out of all that effort. Curious as to what you intend to run for induction. You could probably make as much power for similar expense by building an r16 stroker (2 liter r 16) with a good cam and a little head work, 2L SU's or webber/mikuni, or even adapt MC carbs 150- 160 HP is a doable number. r16 engines are practically free, so you could take your time and build it up right then just bolt it in. I think youd be throwing good money after bad tryin to turbo, other than the coolness factor. If you just want more power a KA swap is relatively cheep and VERY effective and of course the sr swap that EVERYBODY seems to be doing ( more $$). But Ive seen stroked R series motors with buick pistons pushing like 2.3 liters, GOBS of low end torque and good HP numbers while still keeping the "appearance" of an r series engine. I bought a good 2L crank the other day for 20 bucks, and of course all the forklift motors are 2 liter as well and parts are cheep
  14. I will start a sign up thread for the smackdown when registration opens next week Doug is not a member here, he doesnt do forums, But he has 6 or seven Datsuns already signed up for the all Datsun team. Freaky and Gary can both attest to the Smackdown being HUGE, the saturday night party is epic! and 3 days of racing thrown in!! Registration will be through the motorsports reg.com website, easy to use and simple 3rd weekend in September.
  15. I believe Doug has you on his list. when we "officially" open registration I will start a thread.
