Thanks for all of your past help. I finally removed the standard cluster from my 1984 720 and replaced the blank covers with a tach and clock from a salvaged 86 720 ST. Reassembly of the cluster was straight forward and the help from Ratsun members was greatly appreciated. Later when hooking the modified cluster back on my truck I found the plug taped to the wire harness for the tach, but not for the clock. I later plugged all of the items back in order to see if the tach worked. And my luck it did not work. Do I need to hard wire the clock to a hot power source and a ground or should there be a plug attached to my wire harness? After plugging in all of the plugs and starting the truck, the tach did not move at all. I do not understand why the tachometer did not work either. I checked and there was a good 10 amp fuse in section 8 of the fuse box. I even changed the fuse just in case the previous fuse was broken. So far I have not located the resistor for the tach, I may not have one. I will continue to look for it. Does anyone have info on where I should look and what does it look like. All help is greatly appreciated. I will trouble shoot why I am not getting heat this week-end. I will check my heater core lines and the thermostat. Thanks for all of your time and help. John.

Thanks for all of the past help from Ratsun members. I found a 1986 ST Nissan 720 with Black interior and I have been transplanting most of it's interior into my 84 720. Currently I have my 1984 Nissan/Datsun 720 running well, I changed the fuel pump relay and ran a jumper wire and replaced water pump and thermostat. After changing the thermostat the heater is no longer working well. Does anyone have any suggestions. Currently I am now working on the replacing the interior and cluster from the 1986 ST 720. Also, how do you remove 1984 Nissan 720 Cluster and replave with cluster with tach and clock. So far I have removed the bezel and all of the screws around the cluster. The cluster will not come out far enough for me to disconnect speedometer cable and additional plug. All of your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, John.

How To replace cracked Dash Pad?
84 Nissan/Datsun Truck replied to 84 Nissan/Datsun Truck's topic in 720
Why do they sell replacement pads for my 720 if it cannot be replaced? I found a black replacement pad on eBay for $52.00 shipped. I sure hope I can change the pad because it is cracked in alot of places. The temps in Eden, NC variate a lot and I guess it is hard on dashes. Thanks for all of the help. John. -
I was inspecting my 84 720 while it was warming up this morning and I noticed antifreeze/water leaking from the bottom of the water pump. Does anyone know of a site where I can reference hot to repace the water pump. Also, what other things will I need (silicone/gasket)? I am trying to do all of the minor engine work myself. Thanks for all of your past help. John

I am slowly getting my 1984 Nissan/Datsun 720 truck ready for the road. My wife is going to purchase some items for my truck for Christmas. One of the items is a Dash Cap/Pad. Does anyone know of a link or website where I can find out how to replace my cracked pad without damiging the dash? All input is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. John.

Thanks for all of the responses on my previous post. SO, far, the only way I have been able to make the fuel pump activate was to run a jumper wire and connected the Blue terminal to the White/Black terminal of the fuel pump. When I turn the ignition over to the Accessory position I now hear the Fuel Pump running constantly. The truck still does not run. Does this mean my Fuel Pump Shutoff relay is bad, or something else? I do not see any fuel going to the clear fuel filter. Please help, any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I recently purchased a 1984 Nissan/Datsun truck and I drove it home with no problems. 2-3 days later I began cleaning and repairing floor rust and when I tried to start the truck, it would not start. So far, I have checked the fuses, I replaced the battery, fuel filter, fuel pump relay inside the cab under the firewall on the passenger side and the fuel pump. I also relpaced the air filter. My brother In-Law checked to see if I was getting power to the fuse box and he determined yes. But, the fuel pump does not seem to be getting any power. The only way I can start it for a short period of time is when I uses starter fluid. Thanks for your time and responses. John.
