  1. Haha oh shit BUSTED! I was tired of working on engines so i set it in the corner of my shop... and i have been busy ever since. Sorry i will be getting to it eventually . my hunch is that is a spun cam bearing (which kisor mentioned a few pages back) because it did get overheated right when i first drove it because it had a blown head gasket from the beginning. The temp gauge stopped working right when i got it home but i drove it to the store (20 miles one way) so i think i overheated way too much and spun the cam bearing. i'll find out for sure one of these days, i'm too busy with work and life to take it apart right now. The replacement engine is running strong though, just a little bit of smoke when i start it in the morning because of worn valve guides, but otherwise perfect.
  2. HAHA my girlfriend just read that, she wants me to tell you that girls know that you are talking about wanting to "glaze them like donuts" The ladies are smart like that.
  3. I remember seeing cool heavy metal guys driving around in "souped-up" datsuns back in the late 70's/early 80's when i was a little kid, so of course I always wanted one. I finally got one last year, a 620. And of course i bought a 720 for parts, and then a B210 for a daily driver... it might keep going i am really trying to keep it down to what i have now but if i find a b210 hatchback on the cheap i might just have to endure one more argument with my lady...
  4. don't get me wrong i think this is a good idea for a thread, but i laughed for five minutes while i was trying to figure out what the hell a BFRO is!!! hahaha
  5. don't crush anything! There might not be many datsun collectors in montana, but i'm sure there are one or two people around there that would kill for these cars. Parting them out could fetch you a little bit more money, but it would be a pain in the ass if you aren't already in the mail-order business. I'd suggest calling around to get an idea of what a scrapper would pay, then throw them on craigslist for the same price (from what i've heard you can get about $300). It is the right thing to do, i'm sure somebody would snatch them up eventually. Besides, you've had them for 19 years, a few more weeks while they are waiting for new homes shouldn't hurt anybody. NO SCRAP!!!
  6. That's a sweet goon, welcome to ratsun. I'm not much for Z's or red white and blue color schemes, but that thing looks pretty awesome. I've been thinking about doing a two tone on my truck, your z is almost a 4 tone! I like it.
  7. okay i see why you were asking that now... i think he was stuck at EXIT 210 on the highway.
  8. Haha i've been through so much drama at skateparks. It is always funny to me when some half drunk juvenile delinquent hoodrat tries to tell me to "get the fuck out of our park". I always calmly explain that i have been working for a living since before they were born, therefore my taxes paid for a much larger percent of the park than their welfare baby asses have ever made, and that i have more of a right to be there than they do. Then i keep riding. generally, if there is a sign stating that bikes aren't allowed, i will stick to the early morning sesh, but if bikes are allowed and some kids try to shoo me away... nah dude, i'm not going anywhere.
  9. damn dude sorry to hear about the troubles... if you have any problems on the way back up i am in Medford Or and i can use my AAA to tow you 100 miles, plus i have parts, tools, and a spot to work. i'll PM you my number just in case.
  10. i forgot to mention another thing about air bubbles a while back... you can mix in up to 10% acetone to thin your mixture, it makes it less viscous so less air bubbles get trapped when you stir it up. Another trick is pouring your mixed epoxy into a shallow container and using a spray bottle to spray acetone on the surface. This will pop any bubbles that rise to the surface.
  11. Ya know... using less hardener should help keep it less brittle. It will take longer to cure, but i remember messing with mixture ratios a while back. When i used less hardener the plastic came out softer. I might be wrong, because using such a small amount of the hardener may have made it cure so slowly that it still wasn't cured after a week. It was a long time ago but i do remember a couple of pieces that stayed relatively soft forever. Speaking of trial and error, i recently used a boiled egg to make a two part mold out of plaster. I was going to use it to pour a plastic shift knob but it turns out the plaster is too porous and the resin soaks in and becomes permanently bonded. Live and learn.
  12. ^^^^^^ haha super cool... seeing that bike inspired me to find a picture of my very first bike. I remember getting this for christmas in 1980 when i was 5. I remember popping off of curbs thinking i was hot shit. I would also bend the plastic fender so it would rub the tire and sound like a motorcycle. I wish i still had it but my parents moved a few years ago and tossed all of my old crap that i left there. i found these pics on google.
  13. i just feel like getting out of the neighborhood lately, so today we took a drive into the mountains toward Klamath Falls Oregon. then i stopped by my mailbox to pick up a new patch i ordered from ebay. another good day.
  14. haha you are very observant. i got pulled over on I-5 in washington last year, the state trooper said "why does it smell like marijuana in your car?" I said " i don't know" and then he said "most people from oregon have weed in their car". I'm sure he has a good point, but that is harassment if you ask me. long story short, after an hour of searching my car they felt like dumbasses and let me go. *on a related note, eating a joint with nothing to wash it down is not easy.
