Been wanting one for a very long time. Looking back I realized I joined in 2011. Finally got one and couldn't be more stoked. I am feeling a little overwhelmed though because I don't have a lot of experience working on cars and I don't want to screw this thing up. Do you think you guys can give me practical recommendations on what to upgrade and where to buy from and what to do myself/what I should go to a mechanic for? I plan to have this truck for a very long time and my budget isn't really a HUGE factor right now. I thought maybe start with getting a weber carb? Also I'm located in northern California and was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for people who specifically work on datsuns or if thats just kind of lame to ask? hahaha. You are always so damn helpful thank you so much. Unfortunately this guy was selling it for a friend who was in mexico so he had no real idea about anything having to do with the truck it seemed like I was the first guy to check it out. It didnt start at first so we swapped the battery and then it started after about 20 seconds of holding the key turned. after that it started right up a couple times after. Oil seemed alright. Everything was ready to go and I was stoked to test drive it. I then backed out only to realize the brakes were not working and pulled the e brake. Checked for brake fluid. Also once I had it pulled out of the driveway I realized there were also a couple rust holes in the passenger side floorboard. So I passed on it. I didnt want to but I did. I need something a little more together right now. I dont mind learning and doing things myself thats part of why I want a Datsun but it was too overwhelming for my limited experience and it was a lot of rust. I'm new to this checking out cars in person thing so if I did anything off or wrong please let me know. I'm tryin to learn! Thank you for all you help.

He says it runs and drives well but I wont be able to test drive it until later today. Thank you for your input. I crawled under the truck and there were no holes rusted through. I was thinking around 5000 as well. I just want it so bad haha.

Always wanted a 521 or a 620 and just recently have been able to have enough extra income to look into purchasing. I’m a total new guy at all of this so any and all info would be helpful. I’m not trying to purchase something thats already been restored.. something thats just together enough to drive and put some money into. It wouldn’t be my main mode of transportation. There are a couple craigslist posts that ive recently seen that seem like decent options but I honestly don’t know what’s underpriced or overpriced. Can you guys help me out? Wow, thanks for all the responses. Ended up rescheduling tomorrow, but now I have some good info to go off of, so I'm really excited. If and when this thing gets to me, I'll be sure to post some pics!

I'm gonna call on my lunch break for some details. It is a lot to ask for an older vehicle, but I dont mind putting money into something i love for a daily driver, rather than buying something i know is going to bother me after a few months. you know?

They are asking 2300 for the truck. I haven't seen it in person yet but its a 72' 620 and it looks very clean, mostly original, and well maintained. Just don't want to get taken advantage of seeing as I am a noob. What sort of questions should I ask and what should I look for as far as common problems with ageing in 620's? Mostly been researching 521's and 510s but this year of 620 has an L16, and I'm looking for a commuter. Thanks, any help would be appreciated! Also I slightly worry about not being able to find parts when in need, should I worry? WHATS THE DEAL?!?

Noob here. I've been saving up for a while now and all I need is a dependable daily driver. Messed up interior and rust (surface only) is not really an issue. Been crawling through craigslist daily. If anyone in California has something, or see's something let me know!! looking for a stock l16. Dependable a must, needs to get me to work and back. I've researched for quite a while and realized quickly that a datsun is the way to go! the longer this post stands the more money i may have saved. pm me with anything really. cheers, Dan
