So this sage just gets more curious. I went out today to actually confirm I had a u67 head, but turns out I have a closed chamber A87. Plan right now is still to try and find some +1mm L28 dished pistons and bore the block out. According to Ozdat the comp ratio will be 9.4:1 If I use a 41cc chamber size which I read off of the dime quarterly. I took some picture of the head, chamber, valves etc. Valve sizes Intake/Exhaust

So my plans of a stroker have been dashed, mostly because I came up on a good deal for a set of rods and a new crank from Mr. Ermish. The machien shop I am going through said for the price that Troy gave me vs having him fix it up, I should just go with Troy's stuff. I do want to still overbore the block. I know the Z dished pistons are a fit in terms of pin height and dish. I am going to be going with some ITM +1mm overbore pistons. That would be a 2mm overbore which should be safe. This will also be a pretty cost effective build.

Other option is going with autozone http://www.autozone.com/parts/internal-engine/crankshaft-kit/nissandatsun/200sx

Has anyone used north american autoparts to order a crank? If they have one ready to drop in with bearings, then it might be cheaper to go with this way. http://www.northernautoparts.com/ProductDetail.cfm?ProductId=3253

Forged only because I can't for the life of me find ITM. I have seen some rock auto pistons for like $12. I don't normally like being spoon fed, but at this point I'm having trouble finding things. I will be taking the rods, crank and block to a shop next week to see if it is salvagable. If I can't find a crank for a reasonable price, and the stock crank is useable then I'll be doing a cheap stock rebuild. True, always thought it was weird. My other car (wrx) has some forged, and they rattle on startup. That definitely helps point me in the right direction.

Yeah I'm going through a lot of threads, from Wayno, LZ franken-motor builds and a lot from both you (stoffregan) and datzenmike. The topic of which block to use has been brought up many times and it seems there are pros and cons to both a Z22 and an L20b. I'm willing to take my chances with the L20b since it was free. It seems the 4 banger datsun/nissan engines are much more interchangeable than the straight 6 flavor.

So apparently those aren't L20b rods. They have to be L18 rods with that length of 133mm. Post 56 says the stock L20b rods are 145.9 mm. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/15556-l18-long-rod-or-l20b-motor/page-3

So I tore apart the free L20 b I finalyl got and found the source of locking up. rod #4 decided to eat a bearing, not that the other main and rod bearings were much better off. [ So I've been doing a lot of reading on possibly options for this, and I think what I want to do is go with a L23 stroker using a z22 crank, some forged L20b rods and forged KA24e pistons. I will be bring the block to a machine shop soon to have them clean and check for cracks to make sure the block is useable. I'm using this thread for reference: http://community.ratsun.net/topic/28820-l20b-23-stroker-maybe/ Along with datzenmikes knowledge. I want to go with CP pistons, although I need to do a lot more research to get stock sized pistons. I belive Rebello might be selling those. Here is the one link I found for some CP, but I need to cross reference the specs: http://realstreetperformance.com/Products/CP-Pistons/CP-Forged-Pistons-Nissan-KA24E-KA24DE-240sx-89mm-8-0-9-01.html As for rods, I've seen carillo makes L20b rods, but hey so does CX racing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CXRacing-H-Beam-Connecting-Rods-Bolts-For-DATSUN-L-Engine-L16-L18-L20-510-/140800855736?hash=item20c8628eb8:g:btwAAOxyOMdS4K4x&vxp=mtr Although I know I probably shouldn't trust those rods, but maybe they really use scat blanks or something.

Yeah I'm aware of that and it doesn't bother me too much. I would also consider putting this in a roadster if I can find a shell.

I know big phil was using a shiro turbo z31 tranny or something. It's basically a z32 gearset in the z31 case or something. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/78991-z31-turbo-tranny-mating-with-l28et/ Either way this will never see more than like 120hp if I'm lucky lol. I want the 71c so I can use a short shift kit. Had one on my 240sx and one for my SR swap. This has been around my area for a bit, and is tempting since it looks to be in decent shape. But considering I make enough trips to CA I know I'd be better off buying one there and shipping it. http://quadcities.craigslist.org/atq/5470171097.html

Yeah headers would strictly be a cleanup item. but the other stock headers you posted would do the job just as fine. As for the KA tranny, I want it because they are easy and cheap to find. I am curious what the better tranny's would be. most people just use a close ratio 5spd or do the KA swap. I can see the VG tranny if I was shooting for high hp, but this will not be high hp. Engine came from a 620. it does have a points dizzy and u67. Got to take off the manifolds today and was wondering what the point of them being bolted together were. So looks like I'm in need of a L16/18 intake and exhaust.

Hey guys, I don't normally post on this site (hybridz4lyfe yo). I do like this site, but I know it's more 510/truck oriented neither which I've ever owned. Currently I own a 1970 240z and a 1980 280zx. Pics below The Zx is currenty getting a built sr20 swap at TF-Works (touge factory in chicago) Well I just picked up this L20b locally for free mostly as a fun project. I'd like to tear it down and rebuilt it low budget as a summer project. Came as is with a 4sp tranny not pictured and no carb. Been looking at getting Su's, webers or even an efi conversion. want to get some headers for it also, but I still don't have an end game for it. maybe I might be forced to pick up a goon (only 510 I'd want). I want to send the bellhousing out to get machined for a KA trans for future use also. Just because.

just curious, but where is the s130 these days?

I would only buy from zforce on one condition. You physically go and pic up the items in person or have someone do it for you. I've bought 3 s130 gnose fronts from justin (2 for myself, and 1 for my friend), and the quality isn't bad and he gave me a deal on them. His shipping on the other hand seems to be where all the problems are. Plus he just had a kid
