  1. I have a pair of CRX seats with roadster sliders welded on, terminally "in storage" in my garage. They ended up too tall for me (6'3") in the roadster. They have brand new Wet Okole covers on them too. Let's see if we can work out a swap idea. I don't post much but lurk here weekly. I am in SoCal, in Los Alamitos. pM and I'll send contact info
  2. Nice look. There was a kit back in the 80's (by one of the roadster vendors) for doing this without the hood mods. But this looks nice. SOmeone had some designs on larger population along for the ride when they upholstered that back deck!
  3. Nope. 67.5 and on, 2000 was an option, same everything else, but 2L got a 5-spd, and R-16 was used in forklifts well into the .... 80's, 90's. more? Can be stroked relatively easily to 2L, and long lifed after that. (U-20 timing sets are pricy...)
  4. There is a roadster vendor in Torrance named Stan Chernoff, fairladyproducts.com ?, anyway, he is on the vendors list on 311 s.org. He designed and sold L into a roadster kits way back when (but no longer), he will be able to help with any problems, he knows Dats-Nissan parts up and Down. Hope that helps, tell him Fergy sent you, and he'll call me with a grumpy "thanks a lot for nothin...."
  5. Sorry for the parts bin ignorance, but is this the same 5-spd that the Rivergate guys are looking for, and advertising 1k for?
  6. Sorry, one more. Install backup release cables for both hood (hangs down thru cowl), and trunk, (hangs down thru trunk floor), as it will come in handy, take my word for it...
  7. Lookin great, great efforts. Roadsters were under-grounded in stock form, so despite what diagrams say,, here is outline: Batt to frame Alt to frame (can include block to frame in this one) Starter to frame Double check (clean and re-seat and grease ) ground for rear liters on back of frame near bumper. Oh, and don't let pos cable rest on bell housing, as it gets too hot. These are the wise things that the roadster gurus passed on to me many moon ago. Needless to say (you have already found out), Les is a great guy
  8. totally cool, I am subscribed to this tread. blank canvas, eager to see what comes of this. SoCal roadster owner, FergusO 69 2000 w/SU's aka: Fergus O'Fiberglass
  9. Large animal feed stores sell magnets, a bit larger than 1/4" x 4" long cylinder, that are used to stuff down the throat of a cow so that the nails and things they eat don't scar up the insides when transferring thru from one of their 3 stomachs to the other (the cud process) Get a garden hose and put into tank, then drop one of these in and leave it, it will pick up all the chips and hold onto them, until they rust so much theya re just dust and will get caught, very slowly, by the fuel filters, which you will always have a spare along, (and a golf tee to plug the line while you replace) right? Anyone see the downside to this set-it-and-forget-it solution?
  10. does this have a longer wheelbase because it used to have a camper on it, perhaps? (not trying to post an ad in here, just want to consult the experts) thanks folks, FergusO http://medford.craigslist.org/cto/4080886348.html
  11. Yep, ad check on 311s.org, there is a round F-150 filter that with a few small cuts can be made to run the oval racetrack quite easily. Welcome, nice car, and cool pic effect. I work in El Segundo daily, and sometimes drive my roadster to work, so let me know if you have time at lunch time and want to check out each others rides. Note: my "lunch" is at 10am !!!
  12. Gorgeous, and she is riding on a lot bettter lines than those earlier pics. I cut my teeth working (and sailing) on a simiarly sized, homebuilt, gaff rigged ketch, so those pics brought back many fond memories. Good luck and fair winds. Nothing as good as that shaped hull on a broad reach.
  13. The way they make "pewter" figurines, now-a-days, is to mix bronze or steel dust in with the resin during the cast, the weight of it sinks it to the exposed surface, then hit it with a buffer afterward and all the "outies" shine up nicely. The clearcoat as has been mentioned Brake drum dust works well, just ask the guy/friend to give you the dust off the "top" of the pile, that hasn't been marinated in machining coolant. A litttle chopped strand mat helps with strength, but the trick is to keep it away from the exposed surface soo that the casting doesn't appear "hairy". Nice job, thanks for documenting so well. Resin formulators will sell casting resin off the shelf, it'll probably be much cheaper than TAP, but might require a larger minimum buy. (I teach fiberglass classes at a local Jr College, and this is one of the class projects - though not in my class - done each semester)
  14. Wow, all there and so straight! Score! With the nostalgia rodders liking the straight 6's, I wonder how well an L28 and 5 speed would go over...
