  1. And if I didn't specify, I have a carbed z24.
  2. So. The lash was correct. The timing is correct at 3°. I'm getting spark. Dizzy looks fine. Did a compression test... 1- 125 2- 0 3-132 4-120 Looks like I have a bent valve. Only way I can think of this happening was if it was mashed when I torqued the head down. Being that the head went straight on without rocking or any odd contact kinda confuses me. Everything was in the right place.
  3. I have the chain set properly double checked with pics I took before taking it off. I labeled the spark plug wires as I took them off and all of those are in the right place. Hood sticker says 3° B.T.D.C. So three degrees before top dead center. I'm not sure what exactly I'm missing here.
  4. The lines with restrictors were in fairly good shape yet. But I'll remember that for the future.
  5. So to be clear, I've got them on backwards?
  6. Not sure how to make this long story short. Head gasket was blown between cylinders 3 and 4. Took the head off and found it scorched there as well. Took the head in to have it arch welded and machined. They cleaned it, ground the valves and set the lash. Here I am with a new head gasket kit on. The whole deal and a new thermostat to boot. We're all put together now. No vacuum leaks. No draw on the electrical system. Brought the engine up to operating temperature. Used the timing light and adjusted the dizzy until the timing showed 3° like the hood sticker points to. Here is the main issue. It's throbbing/shaking/chugging and it sounds like a flippin subaru flat four. I can't get it to time right. Any thoughts guys?
  7. Just want to chime in as I'm having a little tach issue of my own. I put a sunpro tach in the stock slot am hooked it up using the correct wires. It doesn't read so well anymore. It jumps all over the place but somewhat tracks here and there. Any thoughts?
  8. Thanks mike. I was just looking for a cheat to how much I should buy. But I just bought enough to never need to buy again.
  9. If only I could remember how to spell. -_- Vacuum. I misspelled that several times and just noticed.
  10. I've been doing a bit of a truck update/thrash you know seats , head machined new head gasket set. Doing a thermostat swap today just because its cheap and why not. My searching on the interweb didn't return how much vacuum line I will need to go through and replace. Guess a lil' bit of a shout out to DatsunMike as he seems to know all this kinda stuff. 11. Installed the rodeo seats. Came out well. Quick question. Completely unrelated to seats. Anybody have tricks to removing intake gasket from the manifold other than scrapping and using a scrubbing wheel?
  12. Found some clean 99 Rodeo seats. Anybody have luck with those fitting in a standard cab 720? -disregard-
  13. Looks like I'll be hitting up more local wrecking yards thanks.
  14. Maybe several months back I saw a 720 thread that had tons of different seat swap options in it. I've used the searching powers of the forum and have turned up empty handed. I think I remember that izuzu seats fit but the again not to sure. Any hints would be appreciated.
