  1. My build thread! I'm excited to get this up to date.... A lot has happened and I've been working on my 620 quite a bit. Hopefully this thread is still even active?
  2. Heyyy. it's been a minute since I've been on Ratsun.... For my own sake I can tell you that I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when I considered the shaker hood. I had a temporary lapse in judgement.... I apologize.... (it's been over a year, I think I've come a long way as far as how I see my truck....) You guys would REALLY laugh if you knew how hard it would be for me to replace a hood anyway.... I'm in a terrible area for junkyards let alone to find any 620 parts around here. I've made quite a bit pf progress on my truck though, I think you guys would be stoked. I'm getting ready to get the build thread updated, but for now you guys can rest assured that my hood isnt going to end up looking like a high schooler's shop class fuckup.
  3. I'm finally finishing the rear suspension on my 620.. Have the leaf springs from the 720 and all the suspension components i need, but.... I have to order new front bushings for my leaf springs, I believe they're part number 55045-B5000 (Is that right? I'm like 90% sure i have the right #..) What's the best place to get these online? I have had a bad experience buying from an online retailer without doing my homework first, and I know that you guys here at Ratsun are awesome, and would know who the best and most reliable online retailer is for these oem parts.. Thanks very much guys in advance, I appreciate it. Looking forward to possibly driving the 620 this summer.
  4. I got it. Found some other ones too after searching WHILE i was typing this topic. Thank u for the quick reply.
  5. Hey Ratsun I need your guys' help... I've searched... I am between San Jose and Northern California all the time. My 99 F150 has more than 200,000 on it now, so I am in the process of getting my 620 ready for the freeways. I have a set of Titan 18's for it and am looking for a 5 speed now- I can't wait to drive my 620 again. I'm excited about getting rid of my Ford!!!!!! I need to figure out what I need to look for, what cars/trucks have the transmission I need? Do 280zx 5 speeds fit? I know this has been asked a thousand times, but if someone could school me on this, or at least point me in the right direction, I would truly appreciate it. I have searched for the information but still just don't quite get what will work and what wont, and I really to to figure out what I need to be looking for. My truck is a 1974, 620 with the stock L18 and 4 speed manual. I haven't physically looked on the transmission for a model number, but there are pictures of my drive line and carrier bearing on my build thread if that makes it easier to figure out? Have been looking on craigslist for Datsun 5 speeds for a long time. Just a few minutes ago I saw an add for two 280z 5 speeds. Will these fit?
  6. I need a 5 speed so bad.. My 620 is my only vehicle now, and i need to be abkle to drive to the bay area... Anyone got one?

  7. Wow it's been a minute since I've touched the Datsun.... I've been all over the place. But before shit got weird I finished that spacer.... It looks wayyy better than it did. I think it'll be fine? It's not gonna be super slammed anyway..
  8. Found an 85 s10 Blazer 2Dr 2WD with a blown motor for $250.... Perfect for the Chevy small-block I've been sitting on... Looks like weekend trips to the drag stip may be in my future??

  9. Damn, I need so badly to party... I need to take a break, and party....

  10. Those aren't 225/40R18's are they? I JUST bought a set of 5-spoke titans...
  11. I was only running 2 leafs, (basically stock just without the thick bottom helper bar) until they were pretty much perfectly flat (straight)...... they were totally burnt- I high centered the truck on the leaf spring on a 7 inch concrete drop-off coming onto a busy street in town they were doing road construction on... and I bent the leaf... about 6 inches behind the front spring perch. the entire leaf itself had a decent "S" shape to it... and made the left rear corner of the truck sag pretty much to the ground. I only say because that's the third or fourth time I've heard on this site that the old Datsun truck leaf springs never really go bad. The particular set I had must have just been hammered on more than I thought- They've since been replaced though- New leaf springs are always good...
  12. One of my best friends that I used to share a shop with had some sections of steel bar kickin it in the corner from when the shop was still "SicTuc" (A mini-truck shop my other buddy owned and ran for a while, mostly custom work and bagging trucks.) The bag guys used to weld these to the rear of the frame so they could drag them off. And throw sparks everywhere going down the freeway at 70+mph.......:rofl: HELLA COOL lol I grabbed this piece because when I looked at it, it screamed CARRIER BEARING SPACER PLATE lol so now i just gotta figure out how to cut and drill it... I figured if one thickness of it isn't enough to get the driveline legit again i could stack two sections on top of each other?
  13. Hey thank you- I'm not much of a bag person either- I do like em, but I don't wanna butcher my 620, maybe on some other truck. I am planning on front discs in the future- When my truck is back up on it's feet I was planning on starting the process of collection all the parts for doing a front-disc setup. I'll definitely be looking into it- What are toxic shocks? I've never heard of them, and does anyone know what size/part number I would need for my front shocks? I assume my rear shocks are from something else or a different length than stock because of the way the upper mount is welded into the step notch, so the upper shock mount is sitting 4-5 inches higher.
  14. Yup. Nissan hardbody rear leaf bushings... I still need to go hit pick-n-pull and get a set of Harbody shackles.
  15. Got some free steel stock to make carrier bearing spacers out of... Super stoked-
