  1. I have a 1979 l20 and it wont start. I drove it last Tuesday and I had a little trouble getting it started but it did eventually. I thought at the time I might have flooded it because when it started firing it took a little time smoothing out. It ran fine all the way home. I went out this morning and nothing, wouldn't do anything but turn over. I checked the fuel filter, fine, unhooked the hose from the pump to the carb and gas shot out so I am getting fuel. Checked a plug wire and nothing, no spark. All my fuses are good. The coil is old but I don't know how old. The ignition module looks to be original. It seems to have electronic ignition as it has a little black box under the dist. cap where the points should be. I need it back on the road as it is my only way to get to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Are there any tricks to putting a GM alt in, or can you just install it?

So I woke up this morning and went to the truck to run errands, got in and the clutch pedal went to the floor as if it wasn't there. I guess the slave cylinder commited seppeku while I was sleeping because when I parked it the night before... all seemed well. Strangely enough the local NAPA store had the part on hand and due to the holiday weekend, all parts were discounted. Slave cylinder for the clutch... $8.95.... cheap version. I bled the system as well as I could, being alone, but reverse is still a little hard to come by... anybody got an idea about this?... any tricks?... or should I continue my efforts to bleed the system? I don't think it should need adjustment, because all settings remain the same... I think the fork is not pushing the bearing far enough into the flex plate to free up the clutch,... and that must be a bad bleed... right? I am not sure. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I guess i am throwing parts at it... I have no place to work on it and it is my only form of transportation. The booster is original and I already have a new MC,... seems like the right course of action. What do you think I should do? I am asking this sincerely, there is no sarcasm or ego in my question.

Anyone know of a good place to get a new booster?... and thanks for the advice, it is nice to have a place to go with these questions.

Thanks for the replies, everything seems to be in order, the pedal drops slightly when the truck is started, the brakes function as they should... so vacuum leak must be the problem and I suppose it must be in the valve... thanks again guys.

Every time I step on the brakes the idle drops and it runs like crap, if I step hard it tries to die, especially when it is cold. It runs great other wise... is my M.C leaking into the booster?
  10. Anyone know anybody who's done it on a 70s car?
  11. Don't suppose you have a carb for a l20 laying around?
