no its a datsun frame. i cut the front crossmember out of a ford ranger that has the suspension pivots and motormounts and shortened it to fit in the datsun frame. so it does have ranger front suspension.. i go offroading in the desert and mexico alot. the datsun front suspension would never take that abuse.

That's even cooler! How much travel does it have? My yz had about 12" the baja bug had maybe 6" and the difference was amazing. From the vid it looks like you have plenty :) how had was it to get the steering geomotry right? How much wider is the track width? I had a hard body I wanted to build into a pre runner truck, that was before I knew 2wd was the way to go. The 521 is much cooler :)

the steering geometry was the trickiest part. i made i little jig with a piece of tubing that fit snug on the pitman arm splines before i cut the cross member out of the ranger frame. then i cut the crossmember down to fit in the narrower datsun frame and set the ranger steering box in the jig i made to locate it for the custom steering box mounts.

btw, it has 19" of front wheel travel (stock 6") and has 16" of wheel travel in the rear.

and from left feild

the ford 2.3 engine was a dog in the 3500 lb ranger but when you put it in the 1900 lb laden weight datsun 521.....God Damn that little hustler goes

theres nothing you can do to that L16 engine to make it compete with a 2300 modern fuel injected engine

i am sooooooooo happy with how my vision turned out. all my friends thought i was crazy when i started the project. they were like "1971 datsun truck.......... why?" now they are all jeleous. haha:cool:
