vg30dett is lots of fab work rack and pinion conv. is neccessary etc. and heavy. sr20det is lighter with high revs, and ka24de is cheapest and easiest, more torque lower rev limit, and you can always rebuild and turbo it later.. sooo sr20 id go with if you want the revs and lots of moola

You guys forgot about the CA18DET wow nissan has so many great engines. I have a SR and love it. One day I would Like to have a row of 510's all with different engines. Maybe even an electric one.

Yep the ca is smaller so that helps. It is also cheaper and lighter. But it is basically the same install. I like both engines, my non turbo ca looked good in there. I will write more tonight gotta go back to work. Dam I hate that....

i cant figer out if i wount to go with a sr20det, ka24de or vg30dett i want to drifft the 510 what is higher reving

Out of the 3 you listed I think the SR revs the highest, I think SR with the S15 turbo would be awesome for drifting since its small enough that you should be boosting at around 2-2.5k rpms. That should be very predictable linear power good enough for drifting. I also think the SR with S15 turbo tuned properly would give you a good balance of torque and HP. Although the turbo is not big enough for crazy HP, it should be good for drifting..

if anyones curious ill post the estimate for a ka24de swap a local shop gives me, thought about doing it in my garage.. but alas no room for even the engine on a stand :( yes more displacement, mmm torque

Please post! I'd be willing to do the swap for you, if you are interested..

Holy cow... what does that come with? motor and what else? that seems steep to me...

Motor, installation, and all peripherals, but, that's it. The shop is very reputable, Specialty Engineering, you'll have seen their cars 1 & 3 on the podium at the Nationals last year and 1 & 2, 3 years before that. They're that good. I'm not up to spending that much right now, I'm sticking with my L's for a start and perhaps I'll work up to doing the swap myself, mostly.... Sigh, sucks to be poor eh ;) !

I think to have SE do the swap, in its entirety, that is a very fair price. They are as good as it gets.

I agree Steve, their work is first rate, oh, and that price includes a full custom 2.5" stainless exhaust too. They stand behind their work very well, you should see the serivice I get just as an ordinary "L" customer :D !

The swap is worth the money, it's just not a item that I could spend the money on right now. Shame really, but, then again, I can wait and learn in the meantime, who knows, I might get skilled enough to try it on my own!
