Bleach
I don't think a non-WC can be bolted up to the bell. And if it could that would require a custom driveshaft. These stock T5's have been known to be used in 350+hp 280ZX turbos for years. Something just came unbolted inside. It has to be that. I was at 2700 rpm driving on the freeway. I don't even drive the car that hard and its a stock engine at 180hp Quote Link to comment
racerdad
Bleach, I just saw this post. I was going to install the zx turbo transmission in my Z. I had also heard they will take a lot of power. Did I hear wrong? The new engine in my car should do 250?? hp. (n/a). Quote Link to comment
Bleach
my transmission did not blow because of too much power. (Doug was being sarcastic, my engine is stock 180hp) Something just came loose on the linkage internally. It was a fluke. It could happen to any T5 I'm sure. I wouldn't be scared of them. Yes, people run 300+hp engines with a T5 behind it. In my case it was just bad timing Quote Link to comment
racerdad
:D Thanks for the information. This is my first z-car. I have had 2 510's in the past with moderate upgrades. They were daily drivers and did not get pounded on as hard as the Z does. Darrel Quote Link to comment
