Thanks! I hope to make an impact. I had alot of reasons to build it but one was people were always talkin I'm goin to do this or just wait untill.... When it came to this truck NOBODY thought that it would ever be back in one piece or run on it's own power. Their disbelief pushed me on and then Finally when I was almost done then people gave me the thumbs up. Some where down the road I convinced my Girlfriend to help out. she can do body work pretty well.

During my search for suspension I looked at a Miata, and I said no way! The Supra rearend was simple. Locate the center of the axels and make six (6) mounting points! EASY! I also used the front cradle. Six mounts as well. I give Datsun Two thumbs up for their welding on the front suspension. I counted 14 welds per side. You rip one of those off and your doin something you know better than!

Thanks for the props!

The only thing i dislike about the supra rear in minitrucks is the width. Narrowing them is a pain too, you cantnarrow cast control arms. So you would have to make some and get the axles narrowed.

Love the truck man!!! Looks like it will be real fun to drive!!!

OK - You are 2520lbs total weight. You are 58% front (1460) & 42% rear (1060).

You claim 200 - 220 whp.

Do you know what your current spring rates are? How did it hook up in the 1/8th mile? What tires and pressures were you running?

The big question: What do you want to do with this bad boy? I'm building mine to road race / track day toy. Some daily driving.

If you want a good riding daily driver, well that is a little different, a drag toy or track toy - again, all different.

SO - What's up? ! ? :D

BTW - I love your truck!

The 220hp is toyota's #. I don't have anything power, brakes, steering, windows, or a/c. Just a water pump and the Alternator.

I would like to take it to some track events but not bruise any kidney's along the way. The current springs I have are for a 1994-1997 honda accord. They came from an arrowspeed lowering kit. The rear seems a little stiff and the fronts are jello! I think my front shocks are 14in. long and the rears are 10 or 11inchers. fully extended. they are from Qa-1 non adjustable portioning but they are adj. coil overs. I actually have the fronts totally maxed to the "high" position with spacers on top of the perches. the rear ones are in the middle setting.

I am so glad to see I'm not the only crazy one to do such a radical modification to my Datsun. I'm so jelous of your mazda build. The rear end set up is soooo sweet! How fun was it to clean off the old Datsun front suspension? You probably have a descent aircompressor, I had a 12 gallon non-oil, several cut off wheels, and a hand chesiel.

I give you mad props man. I had to repair my floor mounts b/c of the cancer rust I was having. But to replace the entire floor, very nice..

Lovin tha build!!

Also if you need some door gaskets, I don't know where to get actual Datsun ones however older Volvo 540 wagon (1980- mid 1990) front door gaskets fit great! They have the 90 degree corner and they are one piece. they do have a little flap that can be trimmed off ( it covers some of the door mouldings on the volvo) I also used 1992-94 escort window trim in the side window tracks. I'm not sure where to get the actual felt gasket replacement. I did end up cutting to fit the window rubber, all in all , the window doesn't rattel and it doesn't get to wet when it rains.

Hope this will be useful, but if you know where I can get the right stuff that would be great to.

Fisch and hessianben; The engine code is 2jz-GE, In-line 6 that came out of a 1994 Lexus GS300. The suspension came from a 1989 toyota supra, and I made shock hoops for the coil-overs.

mike and BARCARDI DWB; The only mod I had to do to the bed was to widen the fender wells to accomidate the shock hoops. Funny you ask about the motor b/c it was in the bed when I first got it. It was all froze up so I pitched it. I guess it would have made a good ballest weight.

nukeday; the hood hinge came from a 1990 era buick LaSaber. i had to do a little modifcation to make it work. Here are some mopre picks.

THis is very. very helpful info!!! Alot of us 521 guys wonder what will fit. I copied this info and put it in the body section for others that want a resourceful solution other than trying to score some on Ebay or Scott's Rubber in Australia.

I gave all credit to you of course!

Lot of great work here. I REEEAAAALLLLLLY like your hood. The way it sits down so low in the front when open just looks bitch'n. I would love to see you and bobs trucks on a track together running down some cool cars. Just imagine the looks on those poor bastards faces when a pair of Ratsuns start running down BMW's and the likes. :fu: :lol:

Hey guys I've been posting an such with the fender flairs and such, I finaly hooked up my temp guage today. On sat. I went to a local speed shop and put my lil 521 throuh it's paces. I had it dyno'd. We had a hard time keeping it in 4th gear. When we put a load on it, like stompin on it, it would downshift into 2nd or third. i still can't get over how mean that truck sounds. I'm thinkin about putting the bed back in it this week see'n I'm out for spring break an all. Yeah I'm 26 about to be 27 an still in school. Us southren boys never get past 8th grade until we're 25. Just kiddin, I'm taking classes online at The Academy of Art University there in San Fransico, so maybe I'll be bringin my lil Datsun with me when I move there.

So my 2jz powered 521 put down (at one point) 180hp @ the wheels. That was with that little ECT switch on that I fixed a few weeks ago. On normal It was around 155 - 165hp. I was hoping to get around 200hp, maybe a turbo will fix that.

All in all I might start a bed build thread in a few days. That'll be neat.

nope but its still in progress. its in pieces and progressing faster as time passes. I hope to have it rolling on the road done with paint in about a year. I had to put things on hold for a year since i got married, bought a house and remodeled it. Now i can play with my toys. (oh yeah i also broke my back and my hip) excuses i know but i am full throttle on it now.
