Wrecking Yard Report

Recommended Posts

Clarification: Just turn the shaft and see if the teeth touch. You can rock the stator (teeth-ring) enough to get them to hit, but that is not necesarily a problem. In a good matchbox, the stationary teeth should have even gaps to all four rotor teeth.

That was the second thing I noticed, there was no gap on one side, and there was a 16th inch gap on the other side, and no matter what I did, i couldn't get it to center itself, so I walked away with just the coil.

Yard Report: Tacoma Pick-n-Pull

Datsuns:

* 1977 620 King Pin

* 1977 200SX automatic

* 1981 210 wagon short block and auto still there. Grille, body panels

* 1985 720. A guy was pulling the cylinder head which looked perfect condition Z24i

I was going to buy the A15 and carburetor but both were worn out. It was the eco A15 motor anyways, the 1980 is the hi-po A15.

I just got back from the foster rd. wrecking yard, I couldn't beleave it, they wanted $20.98 for each 720 2wd front hub, and that is supposed to be half off, and that doesn't include any core charges or enviromental fees.

I took the rotors off before I went in the office, but the bearings and bolts that hold the rotor on were in them, you have to watch them guys, he rang it up, and didn't like the price that came up, so he went and talked to another guy, they both went to the register and found something with a higher price, which was a 4wd locking hub, I looked at the guy, and told him that wasn't a locking 4wd hub and he said something about the bolts and the wheel studs, and they didn't have a price for a hub with the wheel studs and bolts that hold the rotor on, I basicly told him I wasn't paying $21.00 for each hub, and left them there on the counter and walked out.

I have had talks with the guy about not wanting to join there little data gathering club, fact is I won't give them my name or email address, I am starting to think that it has something to do with that, as I paid a reasonable price for the 3rd member I bought at the sherwood yard friday, it was what I expected for half off.

I have gotten free stuff at sherwood before. Like I showed the guy and he said leave. Awesome! My cousin basically got the whole interior of a bmw for $50 there, I am talking front and rear seats, door cards, and dash. People there are usually fairly nice.

Sherwood is generally pretty fair at the counter. It's my least favorite yard though. Very cluttered and lots of greasy puddles to lay in and hurdle. Pluss that hill sucks if you have an engine or transmission.

North Portland is hit and miss at the counter. There's one young guy there you have to watch really close. He always tries to overcharge and sneak extra warranty charges in if you aren't paying attention. When you call him on it he just laughs it off like it's a funny game. They really go through your tool bag too, so don't try to swipe any freebies. It is my favorite yard though. Always the cleanest and has good drainage.

Foster likes to overcharge whenever they can. The yard has poor drainage and is kind of messy. Lots of wheelbarrows though.

Hey ggzilla, did the 720 have the long rod for the jack like the 620s use or do they even use that ?

Hey Guys.

I am new around here, and not quite sure if this is the right spot for this posting.

I was just looking at the listings for this Tuesday's (June 5) Speed's Towing Auction in Portland, Oregon.

They have a 1973 Datsun 240z up for bidding.

I've got no money to bid myself, so maybe one of you are interested.

Lot # 16

Went to the Birmingham Pull-A-Part today.

They had:

a 77 510 2 door coupe with an l20b and a 5 speed. Everything looked to be in decent shape, engine wise. Minimal rust on the front clip, but the rest was rusted and beat to shit.

a fairly complete 74 620, except someone got the weber off of it... But they forgot the adapter plate.

and an 83 200SX

Anyone here close and able to pull the rear marker buckets & rubber gaskets off that 521? I've been looking for a decent set. I'd also really love for someone to cut off the rear bed corners and ship em to me if possible. They look clean! Also wondering about the tailgate.
